Vitagraph Studios, also known as the Vitagraph Company of America, was a United States motion picture studio. It was founded by J. Stuart Blackton and Albert E. Smith in 1897 in Brooklyn, New York, as the American Vitagraph Company. By 1907, it was the most prolific American film production company, producing many famous silent films. It was bought by Warner Bros. in 1925. History In 1896, English émigré Blackton was moonlighting as a reporter/artist for the New York ''Evening World'' when he was sent to interview Thomas Edison about his new film projector. The inventor talked the entrepreneurial reporter into buying a set of films and a projector. Plot As described in a film magazine review, during the war, aviator Richard March downs one German airplane but another one gets his machine. Plot As described in a film magazine, Ned Winton (McLean) is employed in the office of Benjamin Graves (Lytton), a crooked dealer in mining company stocks, and speculates using the firm's funds. Alice (Griffith), his sister, prevents his arrest by signing a note for the amount stolen and puts up as collateral the mining firm stock sold to her father by Graves. Alice marries an author of note. Graves then manipulates the stock and ruins the mining company used as collateral, and notifies Alice that the stock is worthless and that she must put up new security.
