Thomas Bratboel Nielsen (16 March 1974) is a former Danish cricketer. Nielsen was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. Farooq represented Denmark Under-19's in 4 youth One Day Internationals in 1998, He later made his debut for Denmark in a List A match against Northamptonshire in the 1st round of the 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. In his only List A match he was dismissed for a duck by Steffan Jones. With the ball he took a single wicket at a cost of 30 runs. Fast bowling (also referred to as pace bowling) is one of two main approaches to bowling in the sport of cricket, the other being spin bowling. Practitioners of pace bowling are usually known as ''fast'' bowlers, ''quicks'', or ''pacemen''. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The Denmark Under-19 cricket team represents the country of Denmark in U-19 international cricket. Denmark played their first Under-19 fixture against the Netherlands Under-19 in Toronto in 1979. One Day International
A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition. The international one day game is a late-twentieth-century development. Northamptonshire County Cricket Club
Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks – a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy
The 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy was the 4th Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy, an English county cricket tournament, held between 3 May and 3 September 2005. The competition was contested by all 18 first-class counties, as well as 10 minor counties and the national teams of Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Denmark, to make up a full 32-team tournament. The final was won by the Hampshire Hawks, who beat the Warwickshire Bears by 18 runs at Lord's on 3 September 2005. This would be the final year that the competition used a purely knockout format, and was also the final year to date in which the minor counties also participated.
