Thomas Milton Weatherald
Thomas Milton "Tom" Weatherald (August 14, 1937 – July 23, 2019) was a farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Cannington from 1964 to 1975 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Wawota, Saskatchewan, the son of Lyle V. Weatherald and Mary Ann Milton, and was educated there and at the University of Saskatchewan. In 1969, Weatherald married Cheryl Marjorie Jopling. He lived in Wawota. Weatherald was defeated by Eric Berntson Eric Arthur Berntson (May 16, 1941 – September 23, 2018) was a Canadian politician. Cannington (former Electoral District)
Cannington was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This district was one of 25 created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905. It was preceded by a Territorial constituency of the same name. The constituency was combined with the "Souris" district of Souris-Estevan (and renamed " Souris-Cannington"), and lost parts to Moosomin, Indian Head-Wolseley, Weyburn and Estevan before the 18th Saskatchewan general election in 1975. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. The Saskatchewan Liberal Party is a liberal political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The party was the provincial affiliate of the Liberal Party of Canada until 2009. Wawota, Saskatchewan
Wawota is a town of 543 people, located along Highway 48 in southeast Saskatchewan, Canada. Established in 1905, its name is from Dakota "wa ota", which means "much snow". Wa means 'snow', oda or ota means 'much'. It is sometimes mistakenly said to mean 'deep snow'. History The town's motto, "Progress Through Perseverance", is fitting, as Wawota has made a concerted effort in the last few decades to remain a vibrant community for people of all ages, despite the ongoing challenges faced by nearly all rural towns in the province. Eric Arthur Berntson (May 16, 1941 – September 23, 2018) was a Canadian politician. Saskatchewan politics Berntson was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan, Progressive Conservatives for the district of Cannington (electoral district)#Souris-Cannington, Souris-Cannington in the 1975 Saskatchewan general election. Cannington (electoral District)
Cannington is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in the extreme southeast corner of the province, this constituency was redrawn to include the former district of Souris for the 18th Saskatchewan general election in 1975. The original Cannington constituency, one of 25 created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905, was named after the Cannington Manor settlement located in the region. Currently the safest seat for the Saskatchewan Party, it is arguably one of the most conservative ridings in the province – having never elected a member of the CCF or NDP.
