Thomas Leeke Massie
Thomas Leeke Massie (20 October 1802 – 20 July 1898) was an officer of the Royal Navy, who rose to the rank of admiral. ''Massie, Thomas Leeke (1802–1898), naval officer'' by J. K. Laughton, rev. In different ships he continued serving in the Mediterranean, being wrecked in on the coast of the Morea on 25 January 1824. He was in at the demonstration against Algiers under Sir Harry Burrard Neale, and was frequently engaged in boat affairs with Greek pirates. He was in at Battle of Navarino on 20 October 1827. Robert Smart
Admiral Sir Robert Smart, KCB, KH (September 1796 – 10 September 1874) was a Royal Navy officer who went on to be Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean Fleet. Naval career Smart joined the Royal Navy and was promoted to lieutenant in 1820. Promoted to captain in 1837, he took command, successively, of HMS ''Howe'', HMS ''Impregnable'', HMS ''Collingwood'' and HMS ''Indefatigable''. He became captain superintendent of Pembroke Dockyard in 1854. Promoted to rear admiral in July 1857, he became Commander-in-Chief, Channel Squadron in 1861 and Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean Fleet in April 1863. He was promoted to vice admiral in December 1863 and was required to assess the damage caused by the volcanic disturbances in the neighbourhood of Santorini in Spring 1866 before handing over his command in April 1866. Admiral Maurice Frederick FitzHardinge Berkeley, 1st Baron FitzHardinge, (3 January 1788 – 17 October 1867) was a Royal Navy officer. As a junior officer he commanded gunboats on the Tagus, reinforcing the Lines of Torres Vedras, in Autumn 1810 during the Peninsular War and, as a captain, he served on the coast of Syria taking part in the capture of Acre in November 1840 during the Oriental Crisis.
