Thomas Flood Plunkett
Thomas Flood Plunkett CBE (19 December 1878 – 24 December 1957) was a dairy farmer and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Plunkett was born at Brisbane, Queensland, to parents Thomas Plunkett and his wife Maria (née Ryan). He went to Tamborine and Beaudesert State Schools before attending St Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace at Spring Hill, Brisbane. Electoral District Of Albert
Albert was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland which existed from 1887 to 1949 and 1959 to 2017. Albert was named for the Albert River, which runs through the electorate and separates Logan City from City of Gold Coast. It was first created in a redistribution in 1887 ahead of the 1888 colonial election and continued to exist (with various boundary alterations) until 1949, when the Darlington and Southport electorates were created. In 1959, the electorate was established again. The 1971 and 1977 redistributions greatly reduced the area of the electorate and minor changes were made in 1991, including the loss of Carbrook in the north and coastal areas below Paradise Point in the south. Its consistently changing boundaries together with its existence in a high-growth area do not provide consistent political leanings over time, although it showed more inclination towards the Labor Party over time than any other Gold Coast seat. Beaudesert is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Beaudesert had a population of 6,395 people. Beaudesert is the administrative centre for the Scenic Rim Region. Geography Beaudesert is south of Brisbane and west of the Gold Coast. Beaudesert is located on the Mount Lindesay Highway, some south of Brisbane. The area sources its income predominantly from rural activities such as cropping, grazing and equine activities, as well as tourism. It has a racecourse, 50-metre swimming pool, public library, two gyms, two secondary schools, two primary schools, showgrounds, caravan park and several hotels and eateries. The surrounding countryside includes numerous valleys leading up to the ranges dividing Queensland and New South Wales with creeks running through them and accompanying mountain scenery. In this electionIrene Longmanbecame the first woman to both stand and be elected into the Queensland Parliament. The Labor government was seeking its sixth continuous term in office since the 1915 election; it would be Premier William McCormack's second election. His main opponent was the Country and Progressive National Party (CPNP), led by Arthur Edward Moore. Beaudesert Shire Council
The Shire of Beaudesert was a local government area located in South East Queensland, Australia, stretching from the New South Wales border, along the Gold Coast hinterland to the urban fringes of the cities of Brisbane and Ipswich. The Shire covered an area of , and existed from 1879 until its abolition on 15 March 2008, following which it was split between Logan City and the new Scenic Rim Region. History The Tabragalba Division was incorporated on 11 November 1879 under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879'' with a population of 869, centred on Beaudesert. On 18 January 1884, there was an adjustment of boundaries between subdivision No. 1 of Tabragalba Division and subdivision No.2 of the Coomera Division. Kerry is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kerry had a population of 326 people. History The Nindooinbah (also spelled Nindooimbah) pastoral run was originally selected in the early 1840s by Alfred Compigne, and was subsequently purchased by William Duckett White. The White family variously owned and leased the whole of the land from the present town of Beaudesert as well as a large proportion of the land running from Beaudesert to the shores of the Pacific Ocean, in the neighbourhood of Nerang, Southport, and Coomera. This large land holding was cut up into smaller properties. In 1877, was resumed from the Nooininbah and Kerrylarabah pastoral runs and offered for selection on 17 April 1877.
