Thomas Fasbender
Thomas Fasbender (born 13 March 1957 in Gummersbach, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German journalist and author. Life Thomas Fasbender studied law and later switched to philosophy. He joined the Corps Borussia Bonn in 1979. In 1986, he completed his PhD at the University of Bayreuth with a thesis on Thomas Carlyle. After a newspaper traineeship in Lower Bavaria, he was promoted to political and economic editor. He worked as press officer for a trade fair company and as assistant to the CEO with an electrical equipment multinational. For the same company Fasbender moved to Moscow in 1992. He was involved in the restructuring and liquidation of joint ventures founded during Soviet times. As managing director of a Russian subsidiary, he set up local production facilities. Gummersbach
Gummersbach (; ksh, Jummersbach) is a town in the States of Germany, state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, being the district seat of the Oberbergischer Kreis. It is located east of Cologne. History In 1109 Gummersbach was mentioned in official documents for the first time. The document in question concerned the lowering of the episcopal tax for the church in Gummersbach by Archbishop Frederick I (Archbishop of Cologne), Frederick I. At that time the name of the town was spelled as ''Gumeresbracht''. Gummersbach received town privileges in 1857. In 1855 Gummersbach's industrial history began with the foundation of the company Steinmüller. With the company's success the little village began to grow to a town. After the company was bought in 1998 the production in Gummersbach was closed and most of the company's area was unused. The ''Junge Freiheit'' (JF, "Young Freedom") is a German weekly newspaper on politics and culture that was established in 1986. It has been described as conservative, right-wing, nationalistic and as the "ideological supply ship of right-wing populism" in Germany. History ''JF'' was founded by students in Freiburg im Breisgau in May 1986 on the initiative of the 19-year-old Dieter Stein.
