Thomas Edward Seymour (born January 20, 1977, in New Britain, Connecticut) is an American filmmaker and actor. Tom Seymour is considered one of the "Top Twenty Contemporary Underground Filmmakers in the U.S.", according to the book ''The History of Independent Cinema'', He is most known for the award-winning documentaries ''VHS Massacre,'' ''VHS Massacre Too'', and ''MacLeod'', distributed by FilmRise, NBC/Universal Peacock TV, MUBI, Shudder's Mid May Massacre and Troma Entertainment (2016–2021). The documentaries feature Joe Bob Briggs, James Rolfe, Greg Sestero, Debbie Rochon, Lloyd Kaufman, Juliette Danielle and Kevin MacLeod. Originally distributed on Netflix in 2005, ''Prophets'' was one of the first of the "backyard superhero" subgenres of films, pre-dating James Gunn's ''Super, Defendor, Special'', ''Kick Ass'' and so on. The YouTube Awards (also known as the YouTube Video Awards) was a promotion run by the video-sharing website YouTube to recognize the best user-generated videos of the year. The awards were presented twice, in 2007 and 2008, with winners being voted for by the site's users from shortlists compiled by YouTube staff. YouTube was launched on February 14, 2005, and quickly began to grow – by July 2006, traffic to the site had increased by 297 percent.
