Thomas Gummersal Armfield (1851 - 21 April 1931) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Electoral District Of Musgrave
Musgrave was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1886 to 1923. The district was initially created when the Electoral district of Townsville was split by the Additional Members Act of 1885. In 1888, Musgrave was replaced by Herbert, the name Musgrave was then assigned to a seat in the Bundaberg district. Albury () is a major regional city in New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the Hume Highway and the northern side of the Murray River. The National Party of Australia – Queensland (NPA-Q), commonly known as Queensland Nationals, or the National Party of Queensland, was the Queensland-state branch of the National Party of Australia (NPA) until 2008. Prior to 1974, it was known as the Country Party. 1915 Queensland State Election
Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 22 May 1915 to elect the 72 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The election was the second for the Liberal government of Digby Denham, who had been premier since 7 February 1911. The opposition Labor Party, led by T. J. Ryan, had two previous Premiers — Anderson Dawson in 1899 and William Kidston in 1906 — but the former did not command a majority of parliamentary support, while the latter maintained it by splitting the Labor Party. Labor had never before held majority government. The election was the first in Australia to be conducted using compulsory voting due to Denham's concern that Trade Unions were effectively mobilising the ALP vote; he felt that compulsory voting would ensure a more level playing field. Progressive Party (1901)
The Progressive Party was an Australian political party, active in New South Wales state politics. The question of tariff policy which, had created and divided the Free Trade Party and Protectionist Party in New South Wales in the 1890s, became a federal issue at the time of federation. Deprived of their main ideological difference, the two parties were recreated as the Liberal Reform Party aligned with the federal Free Trade Party and the Progressive Party aligned with the federal Protectionist Party. There was a rapid decline in the parliamentary representation of the party, from a high of forty-two seats at the 1901 election, to sixteen at the 1904 election, In April and May 1907 the party had negotiated a coalition agreement with the Liberal Reform Party but this was rejected by a vote of parliamentary members. The 1901 New South Wales state election was for 125 electoral districts, with each district returning one member. The election was conducted on the basis of a simple majority or first-past-the-post voting system. In this election, in 32 electorates the winning candidate received less than 50% of the votes, while 13 were uncontested. The average number of enrolled voters per electorate was 2,764, ranging from Wentworth (1,706) to Willoughby (4,854). Of the 125 members of the house prior to the election, 18 had been elected to the new federal parliament, while 7 did not contest the election, and a further 17 were defeated at the election. 81 members (65%) retained a seat after the election.
