Thom Ã…hlund
Thom Alvar Ålund (born 17 February 1953) is a Swedish former football player and manager, best known for representing Hammarby IF. In 1979, he won four caps for the Sweden men's national football team. Club career Early career Born in Stockholm, Åhlund started his career with Djurgårdens IF as a youngster. He soon moved to IF Brommapojkarna, in the Swedish lower divisions, where he made his senior debut in 1971. Hammarby IF In 1973, at age 19, Åhlund joined Hammarby IF in Allsvenskan, Sweden's first tier. He immediately broke into the squad and played 25 league games in his debut season, as Hammarby finished 8th in the table, scoring his first goal for the club in a 1–0 home win against IF Saab on 26 August. Manager Olle Nyström re-positioned Åhlund from a central midfielder to a libero in 1974. Known as an elegant player, he was soon compared with Franz Beckenbauer by supporters of the club. Cap (sport)
In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. Örgryte Idrottssällskap, commonly referred to as Örgryte IS, Örgryte () or (especially locally) ÖIS or Öis, is a Swedish sports club based in Gothenburg. It consists of four departments, namely bowling, football, athletics and wrestling. However, the club is best known for its football department. It is the oldest football club in Sweden. Sten-Ove Ramberg
Sten-Ove Ramberg (born 20 November 1955), also known as Putte Ramberg, is a Swedish retired footballer. He made 250 league appearances for Hammarby IF and scored 14 goals. He also made 27 appearances for the Swedish national side, scoring three times. Being known as a technically gifted central midfielder, he started his career at IF Brommapojkarna in the lower divisions. Later he went on to play eleven years in Allsvenskan for Hammarby. In 2004, he was voted as the seventh best player ever in Hammarby's history. In 2015, he also got inducted to the Hall of Fame at Brommapojkarna. Ramberg was also a gifted player in the sport of bandy, representing Hammarby IF Bandy whilst still being an active footballer. Mjällby Allmänna Idrottsförening, also known simply as Mjällby AIF, Mjällby or (especially locally) MAIF, is a Swedish professional football club based in Hällevik. The club is affiliated to Blekinge Fotbollförbund and play its home games at Strandvallen. The club colours, reflected in their crest and kit, are yellow and black. Östers IF
Östers Idrottsförening, commonly known as Östers IF or simply Öster, is a Swedish sports club located in Växjö, specializing in Association football, football, and playing in the second tier of Swedish football, Superettan. The club has previously also competed in ice hockey (Östers IF (ice hockey), see separate article), bandy, and bowling. Svenska Cupen (, ''The Swedish Cup'') is a knockout cup competition in Swedish football and the main Swedish football cup. Svenska Cupen usually refers to the men's tournament, although a women's tournament is also held. Each year 96 teams compete, comprising the 16 teams from Allsvenskan and the 16 teams of Superettan together with 64 teams from lower tiers of the league system. The winners qualify for the qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League. The winner is awarded Gustaf VI Adolf Cup. Compared to cups in many other countries, Svenska Cupen attracts considerably less public interest and even the cup final is rarely sold out. Consequently, the Swedish Football Association has experimented with the format in order to raise the profile of the cup. Franz Beckenbauer
Franz Anton Beckenbauer (, ; born 11 September 1945) is a German former professional footballer and manager. Midfielder
A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. Olle Nyström
Olle Nyström (18 July 1928 – 18 July 2002) was a Swedish football player and manager, best known for representing Hammarby IF and later coaching the club for two years. Club career AIK Nyström started to play football with local club Väsby IK, before joining AIK in Allsvenskan before the start of the 1947–48 season. He made his debut for the club in a 0–1 away loss against Halmstads BK on 27 July 1947. He would, however, have a hard time breaking into the side, and only made four league appearances in his two seasons with the club, leaving in 1949. Hammarby Before the 1950–51 season, Nyström joined rivals Hammarby IF in Division 2, Sweden's second tier.
