"This Addiction" is a song by the punk rock band Alkaline Trio, released as the first single from their 2010 album ''This Addiction''. The single was released as a digital download through online retailers on January 12, 2010, and as a 7" single exclusively through Hot Topic stores on February 9, 2010. Background "This Addiction" was written by singer and guitarist Matt Skiba (though the album credits all songs to the band as a whole) and was first performed live by Alkaline Trio during their Spring 2009 tour. It was recorded, along with the rest of the album, in July 2009 at Atlas Studios in the band's hometown of Chicago, where they had recorded much of their early material including their first two albums, 1998's ''Goddamnit'' and 2000's '' Maybe I'll Catch Fire''. Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano. The band subsequently recorded an EP, ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, ''Goddamnit'' (1998). It was their first album for Vagrant and their only album with Mike Felumlee, who replaced their previous drummer, Glenn Porter.
