Thirst Buster (Shell Canada)
Thirst Buster is a frosty, non-alcoholic, slushy beverage available at Shell Canada gas stations. It is available in various flavors. Thirst Busters are made using a mixture of syrup, frozen water, and carbon dioxide. The ingredients are fed into the Slush Buster Machine at different pressures, blended, then pushed under pressure into a stainless steel chilling tank. The tank contains rotating scraper arms to prevent the mixture from freezing. When the customer opens the tap, the machine's internal pressure pushes the mixture out. Slush, also called slush ice, is a slurry mixture of small ice crystals (e.g., snow) and liquid water. In the natural environment, slush forms when ice or snow melts or during mixed precipitation. This often mixes with dirt and other pollutants on the surface, resulting in a gray or muddy brown color. Slurpee
Slurpee is the brand name for carbonated slushies sold by 7-Eleven and its subsidiaries A-Plus and Speedway. The brand first originated in 1966 when 7-Eleven made a licensing deal with The Icee Company to sell slushies in 7-Eleven stores. History Omar Knedlik invented machines to make frozen beverages in the late 1950s. The idea for a slushed ice drink came when Knedlik's soda fountain broke down, forcing him to put his sodas in a freezer to stay cool, which caused them to become slushy.
