Things Of Stone And Wood
Things of Stone and Wood or ToSaW are an Australian folk rock band which formed in 1989. The original line-up was Michael Bruce Allen on bass guitar and backing vocals; Greg Arnold on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Justin Brady on violin, mandolin and harmonica; and Tony Floyd on drums and percussion. Two of their albums, '' The Yearning'' (February 1993) and '' Junk Theatre'' (March 1995) peaked at No. 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Their 1992 single, " Happy Birthday Helen" reached No. 9 on the ARIA Singles Chart, which was written by Arnold for his then-girlfriend, whom he later married. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1993 the group won ARIA Award for Best New Talent for " Share This Wine". Arnold won 'Songwriter of the Year' at the 1993 APRA Awards. "Happy Birthday Helen" was listed at No. 91 on the Triple J Hottest 100 in 1993. The group disbanded in 1998, reformed in 2001 and broke up again in 2006. Russell Morris
Russell Norman Morris (born 31 July 1948) is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist who had five Australian Top 10 singles during the late 1960s and early 1970s. On 1 July 2008, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) recognised Morris' status when he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. "The Real Thing" was added to the National Film and Sound Archive's Sounds of Australia registry in 2013. Mondo Rock
Mondo Rock are an Australian rock band, formed in November 1976 in Melbourne, Victoria. Singer-songwriter Ross Wilson founded the band, following the split of his previous band Daddy Cool. Guitarist Eric McCusker, who joined in 1980, wrote many of the band's hits, and along with Wilson formed the core of the group. They are best known for their second album, ''Chemistry'', which was released in July 1981 and peaked at number 2 on the Australian Kent Music Report. Their song " Come Said the Boy" peaked at number 2 in Australia in 1983. Mondo Rock disbanded in 1991, although they periodically appeared at reunion concerts, and reformed on a more-or-less continuing basis in 2014. Joseph Vincent Camilleri, (born 21 May 1948) aka Jo Jo Zep or Joey Vincent, is a Maltese Australian singer-songwriter and musician. Camilleri has recorded as a solo artist and as a member of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows. Ian Alexander "Molly" Meldrum AM (born 29 January 1943) is an Australian music critic, journalist, record producer and musical entrepreneur. Helen Anne Durham (born 1968), an international humanitarian lawyer, was the Director of International Law and Policy at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from 2014 until 2022. Durham served as director of international law, strategy, planning and research at the Australian Red Cross, and has worked as ICRC head of office in Sydney as well as legal adviser to the ICRC Pacific region delegation. ''The Late Show'' is a popular Australian comedy sketch and satire show, which ran for two seasons on the ABC. It aired weekly on Saturday nights from 18 July 1992 to 30 October 1993. Cast ''The Late Show'' has its roots in the 1980s comedy group, ''The D-Generation''. Consisting mostly of Melbourne University students, ''The D-Generation'' managed to gain a cult following with their radio and TV appearances. After the breakup of the original ''The D-Generation'', some of the members went on to perform on the commercial TV programme ''Fast Forward''. Midnight Oil (known informally as "The Oils") are an Australian rock band composed of Peter Garrett (vocals, harmonica), Rob Hirst (drums), Jim Moginie (guitar, keyboard) and Martin Rotsey (guitar).
