''Clementine'' (officially called the Deep Space Program Science Experiment (DSPSE)) was a joint space project between the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (previously the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization) and NASA, launched on January 25, 1994. Its objective was to test sensors and spacecraft components in long-term exposure to space and to make scientific observations of both the Moon and the near-Earth asteroid 1620 Geographos. Results Observation of the asteroid was not made due to a malfunction in the spacecraft. The lunar observations included imaging at various wavelengths in the visible as well as in ultraviolet and infrared, laser ranging altimetry, gravimetry, and charged particle measurements. Ricco (crater)
Ricco is a lunar impact crater. It is located in the northern part of the Moon's far side. This crater overlies the southeastern rim of the larger crater Milankovic. Less than one crater diameter to the southwest is Karpinskiy, while to the southeast is Roberts. This is a relatively fresh crater formation that has not been degraded through impact erosion. The rim edge is well-defined except along the southwestern edge. Along that side skirt of ejecta from Karpinsky overlies the edge and the inner wall, reaching to the edge of the interior floor. The remainder of the inner wall has a slumped in places, forming a steep top section and shelves or terraces of slumped material.
