Thialorei Lising Megia (born January 30, 1995) is a Filipino-American singer and television actress. She is known for being a contestant on the tenth season of ''American Idol'' and for starring as Haley Chen on '' Days of Our Lives''. Early life Megia was born in Hayward, California, to Cynthia and Loreto Megia. Her parents, originally from Angeles City, Philippines, emigrated to the United States in 1968 and changed their name from Mejia to Megia. She attended Eden Gardens Elementary School in Hayward through the sixth grade, but was cyber-schooled online at California Virtual Academy, when the family moved to Mountain House, California. She has won singing competitions in San Jose and Saratoga and has sung the national anthem at San Jose Giants, Stanford football and San Francisco 49ers games. Hayward () is a city located in Alameda County, California in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area. A catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake struck Haiti at 16:53 local time (21:53 UTC) on Tuesday, 12 January 2010. The epicenter was near the town of Léogâne, Ouest department, approximately west of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital. By 24 January, at least 52 aftershocks measuring 4.5 or greater had been recorded. An estimated three million people were affected by the quake. Death toll estimates range from 100,000 to about 160,000 to Haitian government figures from 220,000 to 316,000, although these latter figures are a matter of some dispute. A charity record or charity single is a song released by musicians with most or all proceeds raised going to a dedicated foundation or charity. George Harrison's "Bangla Desh" single in 1971 is commonly acknowledged as the first ever purpose-made charity single – in this case to help fund relief efforts following the 1970 Bhola cyclone and the Bangladesh Liberation War. The money raised was donated to UNICEF, as were takings from Harrison's all-star charity concert (again, the first of its kind) held at Madison Square Garden, New York, and its spin-off live album and concert film. This is one way of using artistic talent as art for charity. Lisa Lavie (surname pronounced ''lah-'') is a Canadian singer and songwriter originally from LaSalle, Quebec, Canada. Background Lavie's early musical influences included her older brothers, hip hop dancer Michael and disk jockey Danny. At age 16 Lavie toured Canada as a backup singer with the French-Canadian hip hop group Dubmatique, after which she recorded her own demo CD.
