Theresa Fitzpatrick
Theresa Matauaina Fitzpatrick (born 25 February 1995) is a New Zealand rugby union player. She was a member of the Black Ferns champion 2017 and 2021 Rugby World Cup squads. She has also represented New Zealand in rugby sevens; she won gold medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup Sevens. She played for the Blues Women in the 2022 Super Rugby Aupiki season. Rugby career 2016 Fitzpatrick represents New Zealand in rugby sevens. She made her sevens debut at the 2016 USA Women's Sevens. She was named in the sevens squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics. 2017–2021 Fitzpatrick was named in the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup squad and was part of the winning team of the 2019 Women's Rugby Super Series. Sulu Fitzpatrick
Sulu Fitzpatrick (born 20 August 1992), also known as Sulu Tone-Fitzpatrick, is a New Zealand netball and rugby sevens player. She plays for the Northern Mystics in the ANZ Championships. She can play the Goal Keeper, Goal Defence, and Wing Defence positions. She is of Samoan heritage. Early life and career Sulu Tone-Fitzpatrick was born in Auckland in 1992 to Olive and Konelio Tone, but was living with her uncle Greg and aunt Rosie ever since. She is an elder sister to Theresa Fitzpatrick. She signed with the Northern Mystics for the 2010 season, while still at the St Cuthbert's College at the age of 17. Rugby sevens at the 2022 Commonwealth Games was held at the Coventry Stadium from 29 to 31 July 2022. A total of 16 teams competed in the men's tournament, while eight contested the women's tournament. South Africa won the men's tournament, while Australia won the women's. Schedule The competition schedule was as follows: Venue The tournaments were originally scheduled to take place at Villa Park, but instead took place at the Coventry Stadium in Coventry. Super Rugby Aupiki is a professional women's rugby union club competition in New Zealand. Its inaugural season was held in March 2022. It is a steppingstone between the Farah Palmer Cup and the Black Ferns. Aupiki translates as ‘''the ascent to the upper most realm''’. Format Initially the four teams were supposed to have three regular season matches with one home and away game, and one Super Round fixture. The top two teams at the end of the three rounds would contest the final. However, the competition was reformatted as a round robin fixture because of the impact of COVID-19. 2016 USA Women's Sevens
The 2016 USA Sevens was the third tournament within the 2015–16 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. It was held over the weekend of 8–9 April 2016 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in the Atlanta suburb of Kennesaw, Georgia. Australia won the tournament, defeating New Zealand by 24–19 in the final. The New Zealand women's national rugby sevens team represents New Zealand in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens, Summer Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games. The New Zealand women's rugby union team, called the Black Ferns, represents New Zealand in women's international rugby union, which is regarded as the country's national sport.
