Theo Brunner
Theodore Allan Brunner (born March 17, 1985) is an American professional beach volleyball player who is a member of the United States men's national A2 beach volleyball team and has also featured for the United States men's national A2 volleyball team. Playing career Youth and collegiate Brunner was born in Palo Alto, California, but raised in Ridgefield, Connecticut where he attended Ridgefield High School and played for the school team. After graduation, he enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In college, Brunner competed with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's indoor volleyball team. Despite redshirting his freshman year in 2004, Brunner quickly became a key player for the Gauchos. In 2007, Brunner was named an AVCA First Team All American along with UCSB teammate Evan Patak. 2015 Beach Volleyball World Championships
The 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships were staged from 26 June to 5 July 2015 in The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Apeldoorn, Netherlands. The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships are organized every two years and Netherlands hosted the event for the first time. 48 teams per gender entered the competition making 96 total. United States Men's National Volleyball Team
The United States men's national volleyball team represents the country in international competitions and friendly matches. The team is governed by USA Volleyball. The team has won five Olympic medals, including three gold. History As the birthplace of volleyball, the United States founded the first association to regulate the sport. The United States Volleyball Association was formed in 1927, and was the founding member of FIVB in 1947. However, by the time of volleyball's international growth in the 1940s, the US was no longer a major power. They competed in the inaugural volleyball Olympic tournament in 1964. The Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) is the biggest and longest-running professional beach volleyball tour in the United States. Founded in 1983, the AVP is headquartered in Newport Beach, California. Jeff Nygaard
Jeff Wayne Nygaard (born August 3, 1972, in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American volleyball and beach volleyball player who participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics with partner Dain Blanton in Athens, Greece. In 1996 and 2000 he was a member of the Men's Olympic National Indoor Team. He is a middle blocker. He attended La Follette High School in Madison, Wisconsin, where he played volleyball under coach Randy Ramig. Nicknamed "Little Ny" because his older, and then larger, brother Brad also played on the volleyball team, Nygaard improved quickly to become a key and then a star player. The La Follette High School volleyball team won state championships in 1987 and 1989 and came in second in 1988. In 1989 and 1990, he played for the Wisconsin Select volleyball club. Manhattan Beach Open
The Manhattan Beach Open is a beach volleyball tournament held annually during the summer in Manhattan Beach, California. Held on the south side of the Manhattan Beach Pier, the Open is the only professional volleyball tournament in which amateurs are able to "place into" the event through pre-qualifying rounds. The tournament began in 1960 starting as an amateur event and is now part of the professional volleyball players tour. Today the event is one of the largest on the AVP tour drawing an estimated 60,000 people. It is the longest-running and most prestigious beach volleyball tournament in the United States.
