2015 Beach Volleyball World Championships
The 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships were staged from 26 June to 5 July 2015 in The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Apeldoorn, Netherlands. The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships are organized every two years and Netherlands hosted the event for the first time. 48 teams per gender entered the competition making 96 total. The winners of the event qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships
The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is the double-gender world championship for the sport of beach volleyball organized by the ' ( FIVB) the sport's global governing body. The first official edition of the event was held in Los Angeles, United States in 1997 and tournaments had been awarded every two years since then. Before 1997, ten unofficial championships not organized by the FIVB were all held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil between 1987 and 1996. The most recent World Championships took place in Rome, Italy in 2022 Winning the World Championships is considered to be one of the highest honours in international beach volleyball, surpassing the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and being surpassed only by the Beach Volleyball tournament at the Summer Olympic Games. Format The tournament has a 48-team main draw per gender and consists of two stages: the group stage followed by the knockout stage. The prize pool for each gender is US$500,000. Reinder Nummerdor
Reinder Aart Nummerdor (born 10 September 1976) is a Dutch volleyball player, who represented his native country at five consecutive Summer Olympics. Two times as a member of the indoor volleyball team in 2000 and 2004, and 3 more times after switching to beach volleyball. Having finished in fifth place in Sydney, Australia he ended up in ninth place with the Dutch Men's National Team four years later in Athens, Greece. He earned a total number of 349 caps, and teamed up with Richard Schuil after the Athens Games for a career in beach volleyball. On 12 May 2007 in Bahrain, the two won their first FIVB World Tour gold medal. They won a silver medal in the same tour on 1 July in Stavanger. Ágatha Bednarczuk Rippel (born 22 June 1983), frequently referred to as just ''Ágatha'', is a Brazilian international beach volleyball player, playing as a blocker. Bárbara Seixas de Freitas (born 8 March 1987 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player, playing as a defender. In 2012, she was named FIVB top Rookie of the year. Seixas is a three-time youth World Champion and has reached the podium in several FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour tournaments. She won a bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships alongside her teammate Liliane Maestrini, and per 13 August 2013 they rank third among the women's money leaders with $108,875.
