Rotting Christ is a Greek black metal band formed in 1987. Deathlike Silence Productions (DSP) was a Norwegian independent record label founded in Oslo in 1987 (initially as Posercorpse Music) that focused on black metal. DSP supported the black metal revival in the early 1990s. Helvete was the headquarters of DSP. History The label was founded in 1987 by Øystein Aarseth, also known as Euronymous, who operated the label until his murder in 1993. The name was derived from the Sodom song "Deathlike Silence" (from their 1986 release ''Obsessed by Cruelty''). Øystein Aarseth (; 22 March 1968 – 10 August 1993), better known by his stage name Euronymous, was a Norwegian musician and a founder of and central figure in the early Norwegian black metal scene. He was a co-founder and guitarist of the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem and was the only constant member from the band's formation in 1984 until his death in 1993. He was also founder and owner of the extreme metal record label Deathlike Silence Productions and record shop Helvete. Euronymous professed to being a theistic Satanist and was known for making extreme misanthropic statements. He presented himself as leading a militant cult-like group known as the "Black Metal Inner Circle". In August 1993, he was killed by fellow musician and former bandmate Varg Vikernes. Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Langhus in 1984. They were one of the founders of the Norwegian black metal scene and their music has strongly influenced the black metal genre. Mayhem's early career was highly controversial, primarily due to their notorious live performances, the 1991 suicide of vocalist Per Yngve Ohlin ("Dead") and the 1993 murder of guitarist Øystein Aarseth ("Euronymous") by former member Varg Vikernes ("Count Grishnackh") of Burzum. Blasphemy are a Canadian black metal band based in Vancouver, British Columbia. History Blasphemy formed in 1984. The band released a demo titled ''Blood Upon the Altar'' in 1989 and their debut album, '' Fallen Angel of Doom'', the following year through Wild Rags, a record label they had signed to while touring the United States. Their second full-length studio album was the 1993 '' Gods of War'' released through Osmose Productions. In 1993, Blasphemy also took part in the "Fuck Christ Tour" and toured through Europe with Immortal and Rotting Christ. Blasphemy was then inactive for several years. Ryan Förster joined the band in 1999. The band's July 2001 concert in Vancouver was released as a live album titled ''Live Ritual – Friday the 13th'' in 2002. Immortal (band)
Immortal is a Norwegian black metal band from Bergen. The group was founded in 1991 by frontman and guitarist Abbath Doom Occulta (Olve Eikemo) and guitarist Demonaz Doom Occulta (Harald Nævdal). The pair worked with various drummers (including Grim, Armagedda and Hellhammer), and were later joined by former drummer Horgh (Reidar Horghagen) in 1996. In March 2015, long-serving member Abbath announced his departure from the group following a dispute with the other members of the band, and he went on to form a new band under his name called Abbath. It was initially reported that following Abbath's departure, the band would split up. However, In August 2015, Demonaz and Horgh said that the band would continue without Abbath.
