The X Factor (Greece)
''The X Factor'' is the Greek version of ''The X Factor'', a show originating in the United Kingdom. It is a television music talent show contested by aspiring pop singers drawn from public auditions. Auditions are held in Greece in the cities of Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as in Cyprus in the city of Nicosia. Auditions for the third X Factor were also held in New York City. Applicants from the Greek diaspora are also accepted. The show was broadcast live in Greece and Cyprus, as well as abroad via ANT1's international stations, for the first three seasons. For the fourth and fifth season was broadcast live in Greece via Skai TV and in Cyprus via Sigma TV. The sixth season was broadcast live in Greece via Open TV and in Cyprus via Omega. The seventh season began airing on 18 March 2022 on Mega Channel and on Alpha TV Cyprus. ''The X Factor'' is a British reality television music competition, created by Simon Cowell. Premiering on 4 September 2004, it was produced by Fremantle's Thames and Cowell's production company Syco Entertainment for ITV, as well as simulcast on Virgin Media One in Ireland. The programme ran for around 445 episodes across fifteen series, each one primarily broadcast late in the year, until its final episode in December 2018. Omega TV is a free to air terrestrial TV channel. It is the first private television channel established in Cyprus. Since the launch of the channel in 1992, it has been dedicated to broadcasting high quality Cypriot and Greek programming including kids programs as well as Church orientated programs. MEGA Channel, also known as MEGA TV or just MEGA, is a television network in Greece, that broadcasts a mix of foreign and Greek programming. It is the first and the oldest private television network in Greece. Open TV, formerly Epsilontv, is a Greek free-to-air television station, based in Paiania, East Attica. History It belonged to Radio-television S.A. which was sold from Communist Party of Greece to the Cypriot offshore company A-Orizon Media Ltd. under contract came on July 31, 2013, and replaced the 902 channel.
