The World Deadlift Championships
The World Deadlift Championships is a (mostly) annual competition featuring strength athletes from all over the world, competing exclusively in the Deadlift, strongman deadlift. It was created by Giants Live and the championship focuses mainly on the maximum deadlift in pursuit of the Deadlift#World Records, deadlift world record, although in the 2017 edition, the event was changed to a weight for the most repetitions in 60 seconds before reverting to a maximum weight format in 2019 after a one-year hiatus. Deadlift
The deadlift is a weight training exercise in which a loaded barbell or bar is lifted off the ground to the level of the hips, torso perpendicular to the floor, before being placed back on the ground. It is one of the three powerlifting exercises, along with the squat and bench press. Two styles of deadlift are commonly used in competition settings: the sumo deadlift and the standard deadlift. While both of these styles are permitted under the rules of powerlifting competition, only the conventional stance is used in strongman deadlifting contests. Rob Kearney is an American professional strongman competitor. He has won Giants Live and the Arnold International World Series Australia, and qualified three times for the World's Strongest Man competition. Mitchell Hooper (born 29 September 1995) is a Canadian strongman and kinesiologist. He secured 1st place at the 2023 World's Strongest Man competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he also became the first Canadian in World's Strongest Man history to win the Final. Graham Hicks (born 15 November 1985 in Morecambe, Lancashire) is an English strongman and powerlifter. He won the 2019 Britain's Strongest Man competition and placed second in 2014 and 2018.
