Underdog
An underdog is a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is largely expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is an upset. An "underdog bet" is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher. The first recorded uses of the term occurred in the second half of the 19th century; its first meaning was "the beaten dog in a fight". In British and American culture, underdogs are highly regarded. This harkens to core Judeo-Christian stories, such as that of David and Goliath, and also ancient British legends such as Robin Hood and King Arthur, and reflects the ideal behind the American dream, where someone who is poor and/or weak can use hard work to achieve victory. ''Underdog'' is an album by the Atlanta Rhythm Section, released in 1979 by Polydor Records. It is their first album with the drummer Roy Yeager since the former drummer Robert Nix left the band near the end of 1978. The album reached number 26 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart, and was certified gold by the RIAA in June 1979. The album contained two songs which reached the top 20 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart, "Do It or Die" and "Spooky". The latter was a re-recording of the 1968 number three hit for Classics IV, a pop rock group whose line up included members who later joined Atlanta Rhythm Section. Exilia is a nu metal band from Milan, Italy. It was formed in 1998 and as of 2022 is composed of vocalist Masha Mysmane, guitarist Wolve, bassist Simone Matteo Tiraboschi, and drummer Mark Campailla. They have played with a number of bands while on tour, including Otep, Rammstein, HIM, Ill Niño, Die Ärzte, P!NK, In Extremo, Paradise Lost, and Guano Apes. Axe Murder Boyz are an American hip hop duo from Denver, Colorado, United States best known as representatives of the horrorcore and gangsta rap subgenres. ''Underdogs'' is the second full-length studio album by the Canadian alternative rock group Matthew Good Band, released in 1997. In a 2000 poll by music magazine ''Chart'', ''Underdogs'' was voted the 18th Greatest Canadian album of all time. Background In December 1996, Matthew Good Band signed a two-album deal with Private Music. In mid-January, on the first day of pre-production for ''Underdogs'', the group was notified that BMG Entertainment North America was merging Private Music into Windham Hill/High Street Records, putting a halt to the production of the album. In mid-March, after negotiations, Windham Hill/High Street released the group from its contract. Good was paid what he was owed for the two albums, and the group decided to record the new album regardless of label support, using the money received from the divorce of their contract with Windham Hill/High Street to fund it. ''The Underdog/El Subestimado'' is the second studio album by Tego Calderón on August 29, 2006. The first single of the album was titled "Los Maté" ("I Killed Them"), which has garnered much air-play on the radio. During a press conference in Puerto Rico, Tego Calderón expressed that this new album is "a diary of sorts from my experiences. There are happy moments and sad ones". This time around, Tego decided not to use as much reggaeton and focus more on hip-hop. He is also a fan of salsa, blues, funk and reggae (the second single of the album, "Chillin'", is a reggae song completely in Spanish) and he incorporates these styles in the album.
