The Ultimate Collection (Chihiro Onitsuka Album)
''The Ultimate Collection'' (stylized as ''the ultimate collection'') is the first compilation album by Japanese singer-songwriter Chihiro Onitsuka, released in 2004. It came out months after the artist terminated the contracts with record label and management office. All the 15 tracks on the album was digitally remastered by Ted Jensen. Selection of the songs was supervised by Takefumi Haketa, Onitsuka's previous musical collaborator who produced all her materials released under EMI. The performer has not authorized this retrospective album, however, omitting the release from the discography page on her present official website which launched in 2007. ''The Ultimate Collection'' debuted at the number-three on the Japanese Oricon chart and remained there for 23 weeks. Chihiro Onitsuka
(born October 30, 1980) is a Japanese singer-songwriter. In 2000, Onitsuka released her debut single "Shine" and gained recognition when its follow-up "Gekkou" became a hit. ''Insomnia'', her first studio album, released in the following year, topped the Japanese Oricon charts and has sold more than a million copies. She won the prize for lyrics of the 43rd Japan Record Awards in 2001 with "Memai", one of the singles from her debut album. Onitsuka has suffered physical and mental illnesses, affecting her career. She put her recording career on hold until March 2007, after some confrontations with record labels and management during the mid-2000s. By 2019, Onitsuka had released seven studio albums, twenty singles, five compilations, and several DVDs, selling at least 4.1 million units. Shinji Tanimura
is a Japanese singer-songwriter. Career Tanimura set up the musical group Alice together with Takao Horiuchi in 1971 and released his first extended play musical album in the following year. Alice produced its first album two years later. During this time, Tanimura also composed several musical pieces for other singers, such as Momoe Yamaguchi.
