The Trump Card
''The Trump Card'' is a game show that was broadcast on RTÉ One during the summer months of 2007 as a seasonal replacement for ''Winning Streak''. Launched as the successor to ''Fame and Fortune'' (1996–2006), ''The Trump Card'' had its prize money funded by the National Lottery and its production costs paid by RTÉ. Laura Woods presented. Although ratings were initially favorable, ''The Trump Card'' quickly became unpopular with viewers. A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is a Wikimedia movement affinity group for contributors with shared goals. WikiProjects are prevalent within the largest wiki, Wikipedia, and exist to varying degrees within sister projects such as Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata, and Wikisource. RTÉ One ( ga, RTÉ a hAon) is an Irish free-to-air flagship television channel owned and operated by Raidió TeilifÃs Éireann (RTÉ). It is the most-popular and most-watched television channel in the country and was launched as ''TelefÃs Éireann'' on 31 December 1961, it was renamed ''RTÉ'' in 1966, and it was renamed as RTÉ 1 upon the launch of RTÉ 2 in 1978. It is funded partly by the government's licence fee; the remainder of the funding is provided by commercial advertising. Winning Streak (Irish Game Show)
''Winning Streak'' is an Irish television game show. The show was broadcast weekly in Ireland between 1990 and 2020 on RTÉ One. Typical episodes of the show would see contestants take part in a number of games to win cars, holidays, and cash prizes up to €500,000. Broadcast as RTÉ's flagship Saturday night show between early September and late May, the show brought consistently high ratings for the channel, often ranking among the top five in the ratings and at one point held the feat of being Europe's second longest-running game show (behind only Channel 4's ''Countdown''). However, there was a significant drop in viewership during the 2008/2009 series. The show first aired on 21 September 1990 with host Mike Murphy (1990–2001) and Derek Mooney (2001–2008). The National Lottery ( ga, An Crannchur Náisiúnta) is the state-licensed lottery operator in the Republic of Ireland. Established in 1986 to raise funds for good causes, it began operations on 27 March 1987 when it issued its first scratchcards. It launched the weekly drawing game Lotto the following year, holding the first draw on 16 April 1988. Laura Woods (Irish Presenter)
Laura Woods is an Irish television presenter and radio host. Career Whilst in her third year at Trinity, Woods began her broadcasting career by working as a continuity announcer on RTÉ Radio. In 1999, she presented the ''Breakfast Show'' on Trinity FM. She joined RTÉ Television as a continuity announcer in 2000. Moving from continuity announcing in September 2002, Woods became the face of ''iD''(renamed ''iD Two'' in late 2004) and remained there until May 2005. In 2004 she began co-presenting three series of '' The Cafe'' with Aidan Power. The Big Money Game
''The Big Money Game'' is a game show, broadcast on RTÉ One on Saturday nights during the summer months of June, July and August as a seasonal replacement for ''Winning Streak''. The successor to '' Fame and Fortune'' (1996–2006) and '' The Trump Card'' (2007), ''The Big Money Game'' was first broadcast on Saturday, 14 June 2008. As with ''Winning Streak'', production costs for the programme are paid by RTÉ and the prize money is funded by the Irish National Lottery. Entry to the game show is based on getting three "lucky stars" on associated National Lottery scratchcards and submitting them for a televised drawing.
