The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word ''thoroughbred'' is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. Thoroughbreds are considered " hot-blooded" horses that are known for their agility, speed, and spirit. The Thoroughbred, as it is known today, was developed in 17th- and 18th-century England, when native mares were crossbred with imported Oriental stallions of Arabian, Barb, and Turkoman breeding. All modern Thoroughbreds can trace their pedigrees to three stallions originally imported into England in the 17th and 18th centuries, and to a larger number of foundation mares of mostly English breeding. The Thoroughbred Corp
The Thoroughbred Corporation is a Thoroughbred horse racing and breeding operation established in 1994 by principal partner Prince Ahmed bin Salman of the Saudi Arabian royal family. It was based at an facility at Bradbury Estates, in Bradbury, California. Educated at the University of California, Irvine, Prince Ahmed and college friend Richard Mulhall teamed up to go into Thoroughbred flat racing. Initially, Mulhall served as horse trainer but eventually became manager of racing operations. The Prince invested millions of dollars and succeeded in building a quality stable that was an important part of American and European racing. The Thoroughbred Corp. won four American Classic Races, four Breeders' Cups, and is one of only four owners to have ever raced both a Kentucky Derby winner and an Epsom Derby winner. The Thoroughbred Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old horses. It is run at Goodwood over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late July or early August. The Owensboro Thoroughbreds, formerly the Kentucky Thoroughbreds, are an American basketball team based in Owensboro, Kentucky, and members in the minor professional The Basketball League (TBL). History On September 13, 2017, North American Premier Basketball (NAPB) announced a team would play in Owensboro, Kentucky, owned by Brandon Lesovsky, a business partner of NAPB founder Dave Magley. The new team replaced the recently folded Kentucky Mavericks of the Premier Basketball League in Owensboro. On October 5, team name was revealed as the Kentucky Thoroughbreds and that owner Lesovsky would also be head coach and general manager. Scone Thoroughbreds is a country rugby league team, based in Scone, New South Wales, competing in the Group 21 competition under the auspices of the Country Rugby League. The club is the most successful team in Rugby League history, winning 29 titles in its existence. The Thoroughbreds surpassed the South Sydney Rabbitohs in terms of 1st grade premierships in 1994. In addition, they won the Clayton Cup once in 1974, and an undefeated club Premiership (2003). ''Thoroughbred'' is the seventh album by American singer-songwriter Carole King, released in 1976. Her final release on Ode Records, it was produced by Lou Adler, who had been her collaborator since ''Tapestry'' (1971). After Carole King self produced for a number of years on Capitol and Atlantic Records, Lou Adler later rejoined King to produce her 1984 album ''Speeding Time''.
