Sultan
Sultan (; ar, سلطان ', ) is a position with several historical meanings. Originally, it was an Arabic abstract noun meaning "strength", "authority", "rulership", derived from the verbal noun ', meaning "authority" or "power". Later, it came to be used as the title of certain rulers who claimed almost full sovereignty (i.e., not having dependence on any higher ruler) without claiming the overall caliphate, or to refer to a powerful governor of a province within the caliphate. The adjectival form of the word is "sultanic", and the state and territories ruled by a sultan, as well as his office, are referred to as a sultanate ( '. The term is distinct from king ( '), despite both referring to a sovereign ruler. The use of "sultan" is restricted to Muslim countries, where the title carries religious significance, contrasting the more secular ''king'', which is used in both Muslim and non-Muslim countries. Sultan (comics)
S.H.I.E.L.D. is a Marvel Comics fictional advanced counterterrorism and intelligence agency charged with investigating and neutralizing paranormal and superhuman threats for global security. It was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in ''Strange Tales'' #135 (August 1965) and appeared throughout the publisher's entire comic book line. The agency and its traditional executive director, Nick Fury, have also starred in their own series and miniseries sporadically since that time, most notably during a late-1960s run by writer-artist Jim Steranko. Three official continuity versions of S.H.I.E.L.D. are listed here: the traditional version in mainstream Marvel Universe continuity, followed by the alternate reality version published under the Ultimate Marvel imprint, as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe version. Hyderabad Sultans
The Hyderabad Sultans is the Indian Premier Hockey League team from Hyderabad of royal lineage, mixing tradition with modernity, they are the progressive nawabs. The squad is captained by Sardara Singh since 2007–08 edition. They were winners of first Premier Hockey League in 2005. History Founding The club was formed on the back grounds of inaugural Premier Hockey League in year 2005. It started off with many host of hockey superstars from India and Pakistan. Sultans, led by ever-dependable Dilip Tirkey, were crowned the champions of the inaugural PHL at home. At the sprawling Gachibowli sports complex, Sultans came out as a surprise packet. Dilip Tirkey was at his best along with penalty corner specialist Sohail Abbas and Waseem Ahmad who helped the team score crucial wins with their combined moves in the first year. Boğaziçi Sultans
Boğaziçi Sultans is Turkey's first American football team, founded in 1987 at the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. Formerly named as ''Bogaziçi Elephants'', the team improved their game by practicing with American soldiers, and played their first game against another Turkish team with "Istanbul Pistoflar" winning 28-0. The team's head coach is Erdem Özsalih. The team plays in the American Football First league of Turkey, American Football First League of Turkey and American Football University League of Turkey. History The Sultans were followed by other university teams such as Hacettepe Red Deers, ITU Hornets, Marmara Sharks and METU Falcons after 1993. Players from these teams founded many other teams all around Turkey. Sultans won many championships and played a leading role in the development of American football in Turkey.
