The Still Point (film)
''The Still Point'' is a 1986 Australian film directed by Barbara Boyd-Anderson. Sarah (Nadine Garner), a 15-year-old girl with a hearing impairment, is trying to emerge from the sheltered world her mother has created for her. In doing this, she puts aside the self-imposed isolation of her deafness, and learns the value of her own identity. Plot Hearing-impaired Sarah (Nadine Garner) is an unhappy loner. Her father Bill is on the road for work, and her mother Barbara who was unhappy in her marriage to Bill, is dating Paul. When Sarah inadvertently discovers their relationship, she is angry. Barbara sends Sarah to stay with her grandfather, Warren. While there, Sarah spots some teenagers, including the handsome David (Steve Bastoni). Warren urges her to befriend the teens, but Sarah resists, revealing that her hearing impairment is a big insecurity. Rosa Colosimo
Rosa Colosimo (born 25 June 1949 in Tropea, Italy) is an Australian film producer. Career Colosimo was born in Calabria, Italy, and moved to Melbourne, Australia with her family in 1951, where her parents ran a greengrocer's shop. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Melbourne University along with a Diploma of Education and began teaching Italian. She owned the only Italian book shop in the Southern hemisphere and became quite successful. Colosimo became involved in the film industry by distributing Italian films for Australia in the early 80s before turning producer.Stratton p. 89 She was one of the most prolific film producers in Australia in the late 80s despite a lack of support from the funding bodies - all of her movies were made with private money. ''Cinema Papers'' was an Australian bi-monthly film magazine which ran from 1974 to 2001. It absorbed ''Filmviews'' in 1989. History and profile ''Cinema Papers'' was first published as a nationally distributed magazine in January 1974. The name was derived, via a single issue magazine produced by students at La Trobe University in October 1967, from the influential French journal ''Cahiers du Cinéma''. The magazine was published on a bimonthly basis and had its headquarters in Melbourne. One of the owners was MTV Publishing Ltd. The Shire of Bulla was a local government area about northwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of , and existed from 1862 until 1994. History The Bulla Road District was created on 16 September 1862. It became a shire on 9 March 1866.
