Soundtrack Album
A soundtrack album is any album that incorporates music directly recorded from the soundtrack of a particular feature film or television show. The first such album to be commercially released was Walt Disney's ''Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'', the soundtrack to the film of the same name, in 1938. The first soundtrack album of a film's orchestral score was that for Alexander Korda's 1942 film ''Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book'', composed by Miklós Rózsa. Overview When a feature film is released, or during and after a television series airs, an album in the form of a soundtrack is frequently released alongside it. A soundtrack typically contains instrumentation or alternatively a film score. But it can also feature songs that were sung or performed by characters in a scene (or a cover version of a song in the media, rerecorded by a popular artist), songs that were used as intentional or unintentional background music in important scenes, songs that were heard in the closing ... Since I've Been Loving You
"Since I've Been Loving You" is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in 1970 on the album ''Led Zeppelin III''. Overview "Since I've Been Loving You" was one of the first songs prepared for the ''Led Zeppelin III'' album. The song was recorded live in the studio with very little overdubbing. It was reportedly the hardest to record. John Paul Jones played Hammond organ on the song, using the bass pedals instead of a bass guitar.Chris Welch (1994) ''Led Zeppelin'', London: Orion Books. , p. 53. John Bonham's preferred drum pedal, the Ludwig Speed King model 201, squeaks during the recording, and has been called the "Squeak King". The opening and closing lyrics of "Since I've Been Loving You" are nearly identical to the 1968 Moby Grape song " Never". The song is a slow blues in the key of C minor. Reception and accolades In a contemporary review of ''Led Zeppelin III'', Lester Bangs of ''Rolling Stone'' wrote that the track "represents the obligatory slow and le ... AllMusic
AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". He became interested in using computers for his astrological work in the mid-1970s and founded a software company, Matrix, in 1977. In the early 1990s, as CDs replaced LPs as the dominant format for recorded music, Erlewine purchased what he thought was a CD of early recordings by Little Richard. After buying it he discovered it was a "flaccid latter-day rehash". Frustrated with the labeling, he researched using metadata to create a music guide. In 1990, in Big Rapids, Michigan, he founded ''All Music Guide' ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Before moving into the film industry, Crowe was a contributing editor at ''Rolling Stone'' magazine, for which he still frequently writes. Later, he wrote and directed another high school film, '' Say Anything...'' (1989), followed by ''Singles'' (1992), a story of twentysomethings that was woven together by a soundtrack centering on Seattle's burgeoning grunge music scene. Crowe landed his biggest hit with ''Jerry Maguire'' (1996). After this, he was given a green-light to go ahead with a pet project, the autobiographical film ''Almost Famous'' (2000). The Ocean (Led Zeppelin Song)
"The Ocean" is a song by English Rock music, rock band Led Zeppelin, from their 1973 album ''Houses of the Holy''. The ocean is a metaphor for the "sea of heads" faced by lead singer Robert Plant "in the auditoriums", according to the group's biographer Dave Lewis. Overview Eddie Kramer, who was present during the recording of ''Houses of the Holy'', commented on extraneous noises in the recording: "It's entirely possible. [The song was] done in a house [but] I don't remember there being [a phone ringing]." Jimmy Page remarked: "The Ocean" features an unusual time signature, being partially in septuple meter, with a repeated two-measure phrase consisting of one bar of and one bar of . Misty Mountain Hop
"Misty Mountain Hop" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in 1971 by Atlantic Records. The song appears on the band's untitled fourth album, and was released as the B-side to the single " Black Dog" and performed in most of the band's 1972 and 1973 concert tours. In 2019, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked the song number 10 on its list of the 40 greatest Led Zeppelin songs. Lyrics and recording The most common interpretation of the song's title involves a reference to the Misty Mountains in J. R. R. Tolkien's ''The Hobbit''. The lyrics refer to the events of the 7 July 1968 "Legalise Pot Rally" in Hyde Park, London, in which police made arrests for marijuana possession. The lyrics reflect Plant's quest for a better society, a place and time when hangups are replaced with individual freedom and a life of mutual support and rapport. The song was recorded at Headley Grange, a mansion where the band sometimes lived in Hampshire, England. Releases and versions The song was ... Over The Hills And Far Away (Led Zeppelin Song)
"Over the Hills and Far Away" is the third track from English rock band Led Zeppelin's 1973 album ''Houses of the Holy''. In the US, it was released as a single, with "Dancing Days" as the B-side. Composition and recording Jimmy Page and Robert Plant wrote the song in 1970 at Bron-Yr-Aur, a small cottage in Wales where they stayed after completing a gruelling North American concert tour. Initially it was titled "Many, Many Times". Page plays a six-string acoustic guitar introduction and repeats the theme with a 12-string acoustic guitar in unison. This leads into section led by electric guitar with the whole of the band. Following the final verse, the rhythm section fades out, gradually replaced by the echo returns from Page's electric guitar and a few chords played by Jones on clavinet. Releases and performances In the US, the song was released as the first single from ''Houses of the Holy'' and reached number 51 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. The group often performe ... Hurdy-gurdy
The hurdy-gurdy is a string instrument that produces sound by a hand-crank-turned, rosined wheel rubbing against the strings. The wheel functions much like a violin bow, and single notes played on the instrument sound similar to those of a violin. Melodies are played on a keyboard that presses ''tangents''—small wedges, typically made of wood—against one or more of the strings to change their pitch. Like most other acoustic stringed instruments, it has a sound board and hollow cavity to make the vibration of the strings audible. Most hurdy-gurdies have multiple drone strings, which give a constant pitch accompaniment to the melody, resulting in a sound similar to that of bagpipes. For this reason, the hurdy-gurdy is often used interchangeably or along with bagpipes. It is mostly used in Occitan, Aragonese, Cajun French, Asturian, Cantabrian, Galician, Hungarian, and Slavic folk music. One or more of the drone strings usually passes over a loose bridge that can be made ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
