The opening sequence of the American animated television series ''The Simpsons'' is among the most popular opening sequences in television. The twentieth season of the American animated television series ''The Simpsons'' aired on Fox from September 28, 2008, to May 17, 2009. With this season, the show tied ''Gunsmoke'' as the longest-running American primetime television series in terms of total number of seasons. The season was released on Blu-ray on January 12, 2010, making this the first season to be released on Blu-ray as well as the only one to contain both 16:9 widescreen and high-definition episodes.
