Amphibolis
''Amphibolis'' is a genus in the family Cymodoceaceae. It includes two species of sea grass endemic to the western and southern coast of Australia, ''Amphibolis antarctica'' and ''Amphibolis griffithii'', commonly known as sea nymph or wire weed. The seeds produce an anchoring comb of bristles while they mature on the female plant, giving the seedling a purchase when it arrives at a new site. A type of seagrass, the plants of this genus forms meadows on calcareous sands. These meadows, and their consequent detritus, become an important source of food and shelter for a number of marine species. The interweaving roots and leaves consolidate the substrate of the ocean floor, protecting it from erosion by currents and wave action. Nereids
In Greek mythology, the Nereids or Nereides ( ; grc, Νηρηΐδες, Nērēḯdes; , also Νημερτές) are sea nymphs (female spirits of sea waters), the 50 daughters of the 'Old Man of the Sea' Nereus and the Oceanid Doris, sisters to their brother Nerites. They often accompany Poseidon, the god of the sea, and can be friendly and helpful to sailors (such as the Argonauts in their search for the Golden Fleece). Etymology The synonyms Νηρηΐδες and Νημερτές are etymologically unrelated. Νηρηΐδες is a patronymic, describing them as the daughters of Nereus. Νημερτές means literally 'not-mistaking', and there is an adjective of the same form meaning 'clear', 'unmistakable', or 'true'. Mythology The Nereids symbolized everything that is beautiful and kind about the sea. Their melodious voices sang as they danced around their father. They are represented as beautiful women, crowned with branches of red coral and dressed in white silk robes ...

Rescue Of Sea Nymph
The rescue of ''Sea Nymph'' was the United States Navy's safe recovery of two crew from the sailboat ''Sea Nymph'', which had been adrift in the Pacific Ocean for more than five months. In May 2017, sailor Jennifer Appel and landsman Tasha Fuiava left Honolulu with their two dogs aboard a fully stocked and equipped ''Sea Nymph''. According to the women, on their first night afloat, their boat took damage from a " force 11 storm"; further damage was inflicted by a typhoon, leaving the boat functionally adrift and incommunicado. Tiger shark attacks, a white squall, and Fuiava's inexperience supposedly caused further problems for the four. Almost six months after leaving Hawaii, ''Sea Nymph'' was spotted by a Taiwanese fishing vessel, and though Appel would later claim the larger boat was attacking theirs, she was able to use their satellite phone to contact the United States Coast Guard for help. arrived to rescue Appel, Fuiava, and their dogs, but left ''Sea Nymph'' adrift aft ...

The Sea Nymphs (album)
''The Sea Nymphs'' is the self-titled debut studio album by the English psychedelic folk band the Sea Nymphs, an offshoot of the rock band Cardiacs featuring Tim Smith, Sarah Smith and William D. Drake. It was originally released as a limited edition promotional cassette by All My Eye and Betty Martin Music in 1992 and was reissued on CD via Cardiacs' label the Alphabet Business Concern in 1995. ''The Sea Nymphs'' was recorded at Tree Tops High and Sea Views in 1992 and was self-produced by the band, initially under the title ''Tree Tops High''. Offering a gentler side of Tim Smith's creative output, it was preceded by the single "Appealing to Venus" ( b/w "Tree Tops High") in 1991, which came free with the Cardiacs single " Day Is Gone" and led to the band recording a Peel Session when it was reissued by Org Records in 1998. Background and recording Members of the English rock band Cardiacs—Tim Smith, Sarah Smith and William D. Drake—formed an offshoot called Mr and Mrs ...

The Sea Nymphs (band)
The Sea Nymphs were an English psychedelic folk band from Kingston upon Thames, England. The group comprised Cardiacs' core members Tim Smith, William D. Drake and Sarah Smith. They are commonly regarded as the quieter side of the parent band. Rooted in folk and chamber music, their sound is much lighter than that of their parent outfit. The songs dispense with the use of loud guitars and drums, in favour of differing vocal rhythms, keyboards and brass instruments. However, the music still contains Cardiacs' trademark off-the-wall chord progressions and sudden time changes, albeit in a slightly gentler fashion. The group formed under the title Mr and Mrs Smith and Mr Drake, releasing a self-titled album in 1984. In 1991, group reunited and changed their name to the Sea Nymphs. They made their single debut with " Appealing to Venus" (1991), preceding their eponymous debut album (1992). Tim Smith suffered a cardiac arrest in 2008, limiting his mobility and temporarily causing th ...
