The Salteens
The Salteens are a Canadian indie pop group based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The band released several albums of light pop music, toured in Canada and Australia; a number of their tracks were in rotation on CBC Radio. History The Salteens formed in Vancouver in 1997. Their 2000 debut LP '' Short-Term Memories'' was released on Endearing Records. For the next two years the band performed in support of this release, earning a fan base in Canada, Australia, Japan and the United States. ''Short-Term Memories'' rose to the top of Canada's national college-radio chart, and was nominated in the category of Best Alternative Album at Canadian Music Week's 2001 Independent Music Awards. The band's second release, '' Let Go of Your Bad Days'' was produced by Kevin Kane, with contributions from Ryan Dahle and Pete Bastard. It consisted of ten short tracks, and was released in 2003. Zellers
Zellers was a Canadian discount department retail chain and is currently a brand name owned by the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). Founded in 1931 in London, Ontario, in later decades it was based in Brampton, Ontario. Zellers was acquired by HBC in 1978 before closing in 2013. A series of acquisitions and expansions allowed Zellers to reach its peak in the 1990s, with 350 stores across the country in 1999. However, fierce competition by Walmart Canada and an inability to adjust to the increasingly volatile retailing industry resulted in Zellers losing significant ground in the 2000s. At the same time, HBC's new owner NRDC Equity Partners was focusing on bolstering and re-positioning Zellers' sister chain, The Bay, with an upscale and fashion-oriented direction, and saw Zellers as a detriment to the turnaround. Jam! was a Canadian website which covers entertainment news. It was part of the Canoe.com online portal, formerly owned and operated by Quebecor through its Sun Media division, and now owned by Postmedia Network. Jam! was the only media outlet that published a comprehensive collection of the official Canadian record charts as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. CKXT-TV, Sun Media's television station in Toronto, aired a nightly entertainment magazine series, ''Inside Jam!''. However, due to low ratings the program's airtime was reduced substantially.
