The Red Elephant Foundation
The Red Elephant Foundation is a youth-led civilian peacebuilding initiative that works for gender equality and peace through storytelling, art advocacy, tech-for-good and digital media engagement. The initiative was founded by Kirthi Jayakumar in Chennai, India, on June 5, 2013. On June 4, 2017, The Red Elephant Foundation was recommended by Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations, for Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council. Activities The Red Elephant Foundation's activities are chunked down into five key blocks: Storytelling In the long term, the initiative aims at shifting mindsets and pivot people naturally towards equality, peace and non-violence. The storytelling wing curates stories of survivors, change-makers and peace-workers around the world so that these stories inspire action, empathy and awareness of the world. Kirthi Jayakumar
Kirthi Jayakumar (born 15 December 1987) is a peace educator, a Security Council Resolution 1325, women, peace, and security and feminist foreign policy practitioner, lawyer and List of Indian writers, writer. She is a Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, Commonwealth Scholar, a Vital Voices (VV) Lead Fellow, a VV Engage Fellow, a Local Pathways Fellow, and a World Pulse Impact Leader. Kirthi is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She served as an advisor to the G7 through the Women7, and was named as one of UN Women Asia Pacific's 30 for 2030. Committee On Non-Governmental Organizations
A committee or commission is a body of one or more persons subordinate to a deliberative assembly. A committee is not itself considered to be a form of assembly. Usually, the assembly sends matters into a committee as a way to explore them more fully than would be possible if the assembly itself were considering them. Zak Ebrahim (born Abdulaziz El Sayyid Nosair; March 24, 1983 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American peace campaigner and author. He is the son of El Sayyid Nosair, who assassinated Meir Kahane, the founder of the Jewish Defense League and a militant Orthodox rabbi. Nosair was later convicted of involvement in the New York City landmark bomb plot. After several years of hiding his true identity, Abdulaziz changed his name to Zak Ebrahim and began to speak publicly about his father's activities and in favor of peace. Kamla Bhasin (24 April 1946 – 25 September 2021) was an Indian developmental feminist activist, poet, author and social scientist. Bhasin's work, that began in 1970, focused on gender education, human development and the media. She lived in New Delhi, India. She was best known for her work with Sangat - A Feminist Network and for her poem ''Kyunki main ladki hoon, mujhe padhna hai''.
