The Real Emanuelle
''Amore libero - Free Love'', also known as ''The Real Emanuelle'', is a 1974 erotic-adventure film directed by Pier Ludovico Pavoni. It represents the acting debut of Laura Gemser, who moved to Italy from the Netherlands to take part in the film.Gordiano Lupi, ''Laura Gemser e le altre''. Edizioni Profondo Rosso, 2011. pp. 18-19. Gemser was credited in the opening credits of the film and in the advertising material with the name Emanuelle as a reference to the more famous Emmanuelle played by Sylvia Kristel. Pier Ludovico Pavoni
Pier Ludovico Pavoni (born 25 April 1926) was an Italian cinematographer, director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Rome, Pavoni graduated from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia as a camera operator in 1948 and started working in several documentary films, as a camera assistant to Leonida Barboni and Mario Craveri. In 1952 he debuted as a cinematographer in a segment of the comedy film '' Marito e moglie'' directed by Eduardo De Filippo. Among other things, he photographed a considerable number of peplum films. Between 1960 and 1971 Pavoni also worked as a producer for the company "Dear". He also directed three successful films in the mid-1970s, two of them based on his own screenplays. He retired in 1989. In 1956, Pavoni received the award for best photography for ''Un po' di cielo'' at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Bisera Vukotić ( sr-Cyrl, Бисера Вукотић; born 26 May 1944), known professionally as Olga Bisera, is a Yugoslav-born Italian film actress and producer. She was born in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She entered the Drama Arts Academy in Belgrade. At 25 she made her film debut in Hollywood in Sidney Pollack's ''Castle Keep'', and was put under contract by Columbia Pictures, moving to New York and attending the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. In the early 1970s Bisera moved to Italy, where she founded a production company, Cinemondial, and became a starlet of Italian genre cinema. She also appeared in '' The Spy Who Loved Me''. Sylvia Maria Kristel (28 September 1952 17 October 2012) was a Dutch actress and model who appeared in over 50 films. She is best remembered as the eponymous character in five of the seven Emmanuelle films, including originating the role with ''Emmanuelle'' (1974). Early life Kristel was born in Utrecht, the Netherlands; she was the elder daughter of an innkeeper, Jean-Nicholas Kristel, and his wife Pietje Hendrika Lamme. Adalberto "Bitto" Albertini (1924–1999) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Career He began his film career as a camera operator and as a cinematographer. In 1974 Albertini directed ''Black Emanuelle'' starring the then almost unknown Laura Gemser. Her subsequent successful career meant that she was absent from ''Black Emanuelle 2'', and Albertini instead cast actress Shulamith Lasri in the title role. In 1977 he released ''Yellow Emanuelle'' as a comeback. The film, starring Chai Lee, was very successful. However the film never reached the popularity of Joe D'Amato's series. His last two films were "Mondo film, Mondos" set in Asia, depicting shocking rituals and savage violence. He died in Italy in 1999 at age 74.
