"The Rain King" is the eighth episode of the sixth season of the American science fiction television series ''The X-Files''. It premiered on the Fox network on January 10, 1999. John Shiban is an American television writer and producer. Hail is a form of solid precipitation. It is distinct from ice pellets (American English "sleet"), though the two are often confused. It consists of balls or irregular lumps of ice, each of which is called a hailstone. Piru () is a small unincorporated historic town located in eastern Ventura County, California, in the Santa Clara River Valley near the Santa Clara River and Highway 126, about seven miles (11 km) east of Fillmore and about west of Interstate 5.
