The Railway Prince Hotel
''The Railway Prince Hotel'' is the seventh studio album by American band Tullycraft, released by Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records in February 2019. The album had a modestly different sound than the band's previous releases, somewhat due to the fact that long-time drummer (and original Tullycraft member) Jeff Fell, did not make an appearance on the album, but also because of the new approach the members of the band took to the recording process. Much of the album was improvised during the recording sessions. This was an untried approach for Tullycraft. Equipped with lyrics and vocal melodies (provided by Tollefson) the band composed many of the new songs from the ground up in the studio. Most of the album was recorded and mixed by Pete Remine at Dubtrain Studio in Seattle, Washington. Four of the tracks were mixed by Larry Crane at Jackpot! Studio in Portland, Oregon. Tullycraft
Tullycraft is an American indie pop band from Seattle, Washington, that formed in 1995. They have been associated with the genre of twee pop; in fact, they are considered to be one of the true pioneers of the American twee pop movement. They are known for their DIY ethic, only releasing albums on independently owned and operated record labels. History Formation and early recordings The band's original line-up was Sean Tollefson (bass/vocals), Gary Miklusek (guitar/vocals), and Jeff Fell (drums). Prior to forming Tullycraft, both Tollefson and Fell played in the band Crayon in Bellingham, Washington and Miklusek played in the band Wimp Factor 14 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records is an American independent record label based in Athens, Georgia. Its catalogue features indie rock, indie pop and hip-hop music, with several of its artists associated with or influenced by The Elephant 6 Recording Company. History The label began as a compilation album, ''Happy Happy Birthday To Me Volume 1'', before it expanded into a 7" singles club, which released records by Of Montreal, Marshmallow Coast, The Essex Green, Great Lakes, and Masters of the Hemisphere, while also releasing several tape and CD compilations. The singles club was noted for its individuality, with each individual record by an artist often being different. ''Lost in Light Rotation'' is the sixth studio album from indie pop band Tullycraft. After a three-year hiatus, the album was the band's first since '' Every Scene Needs a Center'' in 2007. All five band members (Tollefson, Fell, Munford, Mears and Hale) reunited for the album, and the band began the recording process during the summer of 2012. Tracking began with engineer Pete Remine at Dubtrain studio in Seattle. Producer Phil Ek, whose credits include The Shins' ''Chutes Too Narrow'', Band Of Horses' ''Everything All the Time'' and five Built to Spill albums, was recruited to mix the record. Ek's influence was apparent as the album had a slightly more polished, less lo-fi sound than past releases. The album was co-released on April 23, 2013, by Magic Marker Records in the US and Fortuna Pop! in the UK. Rough Trade Records is an independent record label based in London, England. It was formed in 1976 by Geoff Travis who had opened a record store off Ladbroke Grove. Having successfully promoted and sold records by punk rock and early post-punk and indie pop bands such as the Normal and Desperate Bicycles, Travis began to manage acts and distribute bands such as Scritti Politti and began the label, which was informed by left-wing politics and structured as a co-operative.
