''The Platform'' ( ar, المنصة, ''Al-Minasa'') is a Syrian TV series created and written by Hozan Akko, produced by Mansoor Al Yabhouni Al Daheri, and directed by Rodrigo Kirchner. The series is produced by Filmgate Abu Dhabi and shot in the United Arab Emirates. The 12-episode first season premiered on Netflix on September 3, 2020, and stars Syrian actor Maxim Khalil as Karam, who is struggling to keep his family together after his father (Salloum Haddad) is imprisoned on terrorism charges. Maxim Hani Khalil ( ar, مكسيم هاني خليل; born on 7 November 1978 in Homs) is a Syrian actor. Samer Ismail ( ar, سامر إسماعيل; born 8 July 1985 in Homs, Syria) is a Syrian actor known for portraying the ancient character of Umar ibn al-Khattab, the second caliph of Islam in the pan-Arab television series ''Omar'' (TV series) directed by Hatem Ali.
