''The Paradoxical Prime Minister: Narendra Modi And His India'' is a 2018 nonfiction book written by the senior leader of the Indian National Congress, Shashi Tharoor, about the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The book was released on 26 October 2018 by Manmohan Singh, P. Chidambaram, Arun Shourie, and Pavan Varma. In the book, Tharoor examines and questions the tenure of the Modi government. He states that his criticisms are based on "facts and figures", along with examples. Shashi Tharoor (; ; born 9 March 1956 in London, England ) is an Indian former international civil servant, diplomat, bureaucrat and politician, writer and public intellectual who has been serving as Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, since 2009. Arun Shourie (born 2 November 1941) is an Indian economist, journalist, author and politician. He has worked as an economist with the World Bank, a consultant to the Planning Commission of India, editor of the ''Indian Express'' and ''The Times of India'' and a Minister of Communications and Information Technology in the Vajpayee Ministry (1998–2004).
