Pavan K. Varma (born 5 November 1953) is an Indian diplomat, politician, and author who served as an ambassador to Bhutan and Cyprus. Early life and education Varma was born in Nagpur. He earned a degree in history from St. Stephen's College, Delhi and a degree in law from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Career Politics and diplomacy Varna joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1976. During his career, he has served as press secretary to the president of India, spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs, joint secretary for Africa, high commissioner for India in Cyprus, director of the Nehru Centre, director general of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and ambassador of India to Bhutan. The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi is the law department of the University of Delhi. It has the unique distinction of producing the largest number of sitting judges of the Supreme Court of India. Sampooran Singh Kalra (born 18 August 1934), known professionally as Gulzar, is an Indian Urdu poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter, and film director known for his works in Hindi cinema. He is regarded as one of greatest Urdu poets of this era. He started his career with music director S.D. Burman as a lyricist in the 1963 film ''Bandini'' and worked with many music directors including R. D. Burman, Salil Chowdhury, Vishal Bhardwaj and A. R. Rahman. Kaifi Azmi (born Athar Husain Rizvi; 14 January 1919 – 10 May 2002) was an Indian Urdu poet. He is remembered as the one who brought Urdu literature to Indian motion pictures. Together with Pirzada Qasim, Jaun Elia and others he participated in many memorable Mushaira gatherings of the twentieth century. His wife was theatre and film actress Shaukat Kaifi. ''Mahagathbandhan'' (MGB), (Hindi: महागठबंधन) also known as Grand Alliance, is a coalition of political parties in the Eastern state of Bihar in India, formed ahead of the 2015 Vidhan Sabha elections in Bihar. A Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha (abbreviated: MP) is the representative of the Indian states to the one of the two houses of the Parliament of India (Rajya Sabha). Rajya Sabha MPs are elected by the electoral college of the elected members of the State Assembly with a system of proportional representation by a single transferable vote.
