Faculty Of Law, University Of Delhi
The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi is the law department of the University of Delhi. It has the unique distinction of producing the largest number of sitting judges of the Supreme Court of India. It is situated in the north campus of the University of Delhi and has more than 130 teachers and about 7000 students at present including LL.B., LL.M., and Ph.D. students. The Faculty of Law operates through three centres within its campus, namely, Campus Law Centre, Law Centre-I and Law Centre-II. History Early Years The Faculty of Law was established in 1924. The then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi, and himself a great lawyer, jurist, and educationist, Dr. Hari Singh Gour was the first Dean of the Faculty of Law. Delhi University (DU), formally the University of Delhi, is a collegiate central university located in New Delhi, India. A fact is a datum about one or more aspects of a circumstance, which, if accepted as true and proven true, allows a logical conclusion to be reached on a true–false evaluation. Shripathi Ravindra Bhat (born 21 October 1958) is a judge of the Supreme Court of India. He is former chief justice of the Rajasthan High Court and a former judge of the Delhi High Court. Career He was born on 21 October 1958 at Mysore. He was educated in Bangalore and Gwalior. He did his schooling from the Central School, Faridabad. He did Bachelor of Arts with honors in English literature from Hindu College, Delhi in 1979. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University in 1982. The High Court of Kerala is the highest court in the Indian state of Kerala and the Union territory of Lakshadweep. It is located in Kochi. The Delhi University Stadium is a Rugby sevens stadium, situated within the North Delhi, North Campus of Delhi University. The Bar Council of India is a statutory body established under the section 4 of Advocates Act 1961 that regulates the legal practice and legal education in India. Its members are elected from amongst the lawyers in India and as such represents the Indian bar. Street theatre is a form of theatrical performance and presentation in outdoor public spaces without a specific paying audience. Lok Adalat
Lok Adalat is a Statutory Organization under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and was created as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism used in India to resolve disputes/grievances outside courts. It is a forum where cases pending on panchayat, or at a pre-litigation stage in a court of law, are settled. Under this Act, the award (decision) made by the Lok Adalats is deemed to be a civil court case and is final and binding on all parties. No appeal against such an award lies before any court of law. Oral arguments are spoken presentations to a judge or appellate court by a lawyer (or parties when representing themselves) of the legal reasons why they should prevail. Oral argument at the appellate level accompanies written briefs, which also advance the argument of each party in the legal dispute. Oral arguments can also occur during motion practice when one of the parties presents a motion to the court for consideration before trial, such as when the case is to be dismissed on a point of law, or when summary judgment may lie because there are no factual issues in dispute. Moot court is a co-curricular activity at many law schools. Participants take part in simulated court or arbitration proceedings, usually involving drafting memorials or memoranda and participating in oral argument. In most countries, the phrase "moot court" may be shortened to simply "moot" or "mooting". Participants are either referred to as "mooters" or, less conventionally, "mooties".
