The Night Guardian
''The Night Guardian'' (Persian: نگهبان شب, romanized: ''Negahban-e Shab'') is a 2022 Iranian drama film directed and produced by Reza Mirkarimi and written by Mirkarimi and Mohammad Davoudi. The film screened for the first time at the 40th Fajr Film Festival and received 9 nominations, where Reza Mirkarimi won the award for Best Director and Aliakbar Osanloo received a Honorary Diploma for his acting. Premise the film is about a naive young village boy named Rasool (Touraj Alvand) whose quiet and carefree life is challenged by trusting Behnam (Mohsen Kiaee), who is the engineer of a construction project. Reza Mirkarimi
Reza Mirkarimi ( fa, رضا میرکریمی; born 27 January 1967) is an Iranian screenwriter and film director. He was also Secretary of the International Film Festival of the Fajr Film Festival. Career He graduated from Fine Arts University in graphic arts in Tehran. His cinema activities started from 1987 with a short film named ''For Him'' (16mm camera) and with a series of shorts followed by two TV series aimed at young people. His 1999 first feature, ''The Child and The Soldier'', has won several national and international awards, including the ”Golden Butterfly” at the 1999 Isfahan International Children and Youth Film Festival, Iran and the "Montgolfiere d'Argent” at the Festival of 3 Continents, Nantes, France, in 2000, as well as the "Golden Shoe" at the "Children and Teenagers Film Festival" in Zelin, Croatia, in 2001. Kiumars Pourahmad ( fa, کیومرث پوراحمد, born 16 December 1949 in Najaf Abad, Isfahan, Iran) is an Iranian film director, screenwriter, film editor and film producer. Career Pourahmad started his career as a film critic and assistant director in a TV series in early 1970s. He made his directorial debut, ''Tatureh'' in 1983 after making some short films. Children and young adults with their problems are the central characters in most of his films. Recently, Pourahmad has shown a tendency toward mass audience and box office and his latest film, ''The Yalda Night'', was a self-expression. Fajr Film Festival
Iran's annual Fajr International Film Festival ( fa, جشنواره بین‌المللی فیلم فجر), or Fajr Film Festival (little: FIFF; fa, جشنواره فیلم فجر), has been held every February and April in Tehran since 1982. The festival is supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. It takes place on the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The awards are the Iranian equivalent to the American Academy Awards. The festival has been promoted locally and internationally through television, radio and webinars; speakers have come from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
