The Men's Project
The Men's Project is a counselling agency based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, whose prime mandate is sexual abuse recovery and other issues surrounding the mental health needs of men and their families. The keystone of the agency is its Men & Healing program, a series of group programs designed for men who are recovering from childhood sexual and/or physical abuse. Aside from its Men & Healing program, TMP offers a number of other services, including: anger management; a fathering program; a province-wide crisis line; and individual, family and couples counselling. In 2007, The Men’s Project received the Ministry of Ontario Attorney General’s Award of Distinction for Service Innovation. It was the only community service granted official standing at the Cornwall Inquiry. Cornwall Inquiry
The Cornwall Inquiry was a commission of inquiry that was established by the Government of Ontario on April 14, 2005 "to inquire into and report on the events surrounding allegations of abuse of young people" in Cornwall, Ontario, by local police, Crown attorneys, probation officers, Roman Catholic clergy, and other adults in positions of trust. Commissioner G. Normand Glaude, a former member of the Ontario Police Commission, categorically refused to make a conclusive finding of fact as to whether a pedophile ring existed or whether there was a conspiracy by people in authority to cover up child sexual abuse. Such a finding was not within the scope of the inquiry. The commission found systemic failures in the response of the justice system to child sexual abuse claims. The commission took four years to conclude, including three years of public hearings, at a cost of $53 million. 1in6
1in6 is an American nonprofit organization that provides support and information to male survivors of sexual abuse and assault, as well as their loved ones and service providers. In January 2007, 1in6 was founded by a group of individuals including Steve LePore, Jim Hopper, Greg LeMond, and David Lisak. In December 2018, the Board of Directors of 1in6 announced that longtime nonprofit leader Matthew Ennis would succeed founder Steve LePore as the organization's President & Chief Executive Officer following LePore's retirement. The organization partners with RAINN to provide a free and anonymous 24/7 helpline, as well as confidential weekly online support groups for male survivors.
