The Mailbox (film)
''The Mailbox'' is a 1977 American 24-minute short film produced by BYU Motion Picture Studios. The film is available through the Brigham Young University Office of Creative Works on a compilation DVD with other LDS films. Plot An old woman's loneliness is amplified as she daily walks to the mailbox, only to find nothing there for her. Her neighbors and the mailman provide some relief, but her family doesn't seem to care. Merrill Jenson
Merrill Boyd Jenson (born January 20, 1947) is an American composer and arranger who has composed film scores for over thirty films including Emma Smith: My Story, Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration, The Testaments of One Fold and One Shepherd, Legacy, Harry's War, and Windwalker. Many of the films Jenson composed music for were directed by Academy Award-winning director Kieth Merrill. Jenson has also composed several concert productions including a symphony that premiered at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, he has composed music for many television commercials including the acclaimed Homefront ads, music for three outdoor pageants, and several albums. Chris Conkling
Jon Christopher Conkling (born March 31, 1949) is an American writer. He is best known as the co-writer of the screenplay for the animated version of ''Lord of the Rings'', directed by Ralph Bakshi and produced by Saul Zaentz. He has also published articles in ''BYU Studies'', the ''Journal of Book of Mormon Studies'' and the ''Ensign'', and wrote the 1979 book ''A Joseph Smith Chronology'' and an award-winning article on Melville's "Bartleby The Scrivener." The ''Journal of Religion and Film'' is a biannual peer-reviewed academic journal that "examines the description, critique, and embodiment of religion in film". The editor-in-chief is John C. Lyden (Grand View University). It was established in 1997 by William L. Blizek and Ronald Burke (University of Nebraska at Omaha), who became interested in the subject of religion and film after hearing Andrew Greeley speak about images of God in popular movies. Reed P. Smoot A.S.C. is a United States cinematographer associated with many successful IMAX documentaries and theme park rides.
