The Militia Group is an independent record company based in Long Beach, California. History The Militia Group was founded in 1998 by Chad Pearson as a booking agency, booking for artists such as Slick Shoes, Craig's Brother, Dogwood, twothirtyeight, Acceptance, and Element 101. Pearson and Rory Felton partnered in 2000 to turn the booking agency into a record company. Both Pearson and Felton had previous experience with independent labels and artists: Pearson in Seattle, WA working at Tooth & Nail Records, and Felton in Kansas City co-operating Arise Records with Jason Irvine in Louisville, KY. Arise published The Juliana Theory's first CD, a split album with Dawson High; and other bands: Tijuana Crime Scene, The National Acrobat, Reflector and Recess Theory. The Beautiful Mistake
The Beautiful Mistake is a rock band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2000, the band has released two full-length albums: the 2002 debut album, ''Light A Match, For I Deserve To Burn'', and 2004's ''This Is Who You Are''. They have also released four EPs and had various songs featured on different compilation albums. Formed by Josh Hagquist and Shawn Grover following the breakup of their previous band, Ember, the band went through numerous member changes throughout the 2000's with Hagquist (vocals–guitar) remaining the constant in each incarnation. The Beautiful Mistake released albums on SideCho Records, The Militia Group and Reignition Records and had songs and videos featured on releases by Victory Records and Hopeless Records. Eager Seas (formerly known as Lakes) is an American indie rock band, formed in June 2006 in Atascadero, California, consisting mainly of the former band members of Watashi Wa. They were signed to The Militia Group and on September 5, 2006, released a five-song EP named '' Photographs EP''. They are now independent as of their latest release in 2018 Seth Roberts, the lead vocalist of Watashi Wa, formed a new ensemble called Eager Seas after Watashi Wa's 2004 break-up, but the subsequent album was released under the name Watashi Wa in 2006. Roberts then left Tooth & Nail Records and signed with The Militia Group, with the new ensemble renamed Lakes. Their first show was played at the Cornerstone festival in 2006, where they also sold a limited number (200 copies) of their EP. This was more than a month before the official release date. Jonathan Jones (born October 21, 1982) is the lead singer, pianist, song writer and co-founder of the alternative rock bands Waking Ashland and We Shot the Moon. Personal life Jones lives in Cardiff, California. He is an avid surfer and spends a good deal of time surfing while not on tour. On Thursday, July 21, 2011, Jones proposed to longtime girlfriend Julie Coy after an afternoon surf session in Cardiff. In 2013 the couple moved to Woodland, California to pursue Julie's studies at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Jill Cunniff (born August 17, 1966) is an American musician and artist, best known as the lead singer of the band Luscious Jackson. Cunniff was born in New York City and attended college in San Francisco. After returning to New York in 1991, she formed Luscious Jackson with friend Gabby Glaser. Cunniff plays bass, sings lead vocals, and has been the chief songwriter of the band. Cunniff appeared in a 1996 episode of the Adult Swim series ''Space Ghost Coast to Coast'' as herself. That same year, she provided the voice of Laura for the English localization of the Sega Saturn game ''Enemy Zero''. Driving East
Driving East is an American pop punk band from Fairfax, Virginia. History Driving East formed in 2002 after numerous line-up changes. Jon Jester, the original drummer, had moved to Los Angeles to work with his friends in the South African band Just Jinger shortly after they signed with Capitol Records. However, the lure of playing drums brought him back to the East Coast and back to Driving East. Before leaving the West Coast, Jester recruited Aaron Hubbard, who earned a Master's degree in music, to become the band's bassist, and New Jersey guitarist Dustin Largin. The union of Jester, Aaron Hubbard, Nate Taylor, and Barrett Mullins made up Driving East at the height of their popularity in the mid-to-late 2000s. Denison Witmer is an American singer-songwriter from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States. His first release, in 1995, was a cassette titled ''My Luck, My Love''. He has since released six studio LPs; two live albums, a cover album (''Recovered''); three EPs; and an LP with The River Bends—a side project consisting of members of the Philadelphia-based alt-country band One Star Hotel. Witmer's 2005 album, '' Are You a Dreamer?'', produced by Don Peris of The Innocence Mission and featuring Sufjan Stevens, received acclaim, including positive reviews from Pitchfork Media and ''Entertainment Weekly''. ''Chroma'' is the debut studio album by the American rock band Cartel. Formed in mid-2003, they self-released an EP the following year. Shortly afterwards founding guitarist Andy Lee left the band and was replaced by Nic Hudson. Following a performance at a music conference in Atlanta, the band signed to The Militia Group. With songs planned out, the band went to record with producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount. Recording took place at Treesound Studios in Atlanta in May and June 2005.
