The Lucy Show (band)
The Lucy Show was a rock/ new wave band that was formed in London, England, in early 1983. History The band was formed by Mark Bandola (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Rob Vandeven (vocals, bass), with Paul Rigby on drums, under the name "Midnite Movie". Rigby quickly quit, and Pete Barraclough (guitars, keyboards) and Bryan Hudspeth (drums) were added to the line-up,Clarkson, John. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. John Leckie
John William Leckie (born 23 October 1949) is an English record producer and recording engineer. His production credits include Magazine's ''Real Life'' (1978), XTC's ''White Music'' (1978) and Dukes of Stratosphear's '' 25 O'Clock'' (1985), the Stone Roses' ''The Stone Roses'' (1989), the Verve's '' A Storm in Heaven'' (1993), Radiohead's '' The Bends'' (1995), Cast's ''All Change'' (1995), Muse's ''Origin of Symmetry'' (2001) and the Levellers' ''We the Collective'' (2018). Mania (The Lucy Show Album)
''Mania'' was released in 1986 in the UK and the U.S. on Big Time Records. It was The Lucy Show's second, and final, album. The band changed direction from the richly atmospheric and melancholy '' ...undone'' and aimed for a more upbeat, commercial sound. The album received better critical reviews than the debut album, and sold more copies, topping the CMJ charts in the US and earning some MTV airplay for the music video of the song, "A Million Things". However, Big Time Records went bankrupt, leaving The Lucy Show once again without a label. They continued to tour and record for some time, then called it quits in 1988. In 2005, the Words on Music label issued the album on CD for the first time, adding several bonus tracks. Big Time Records was an independent record label based in Sydney, Australia. The label was owned by Lance Reynolds and Fred Bestall, who managed Air Supply in their early days, among others. From 1979 until 1981, Big Time was distributed by Wizard Records, who were purchased by EMI (Australia) Ltd. In 1987–88, distribution moved to BMG and releases were branded more often with RCA, BMG and Big Time simultaneously. Comsat Angels
The Comsat Angels were an English post-punk band from Sheffield, England, initially active from 1978 to 1995. Their music has been described as "abstract pop songs with sparse instrumentation, many of which were bleak and filled with some form of heartache". They have been credited as being an influence on later post-punk revival bands such as Blacklist, Bell Hollow, Editors and Interpol. The Comsat Angels toured heavily in the UK and western Europe, especially in the Netherlands; the band's two concerts in August 1982 in Iceland had a strong influence on the music scene in Reykjavík.
