The Lovers (band)
The Lovers are a French electronic dance/neo-burlesque band based in Sheffield, consisting of couple Fred de Fred and Marion Benoist. Their music is usually upbeat and satirical of French stereotypes, with songs themed around food and sexuality, food and sex. Career Benoist is a former bunny girl, who has worked with producers such as Nellee Hooper, and wrote the song "Wonderland", a number two hit for Moloko's Róisín Murphy in the dance charts. Fred had previously worked for Sheffield studio FON. The couple started working on music after meeting Jarvis Cocker, who wrote for them the songs "La Degustation", "Fred de Fred" and "Basque Country", which were later included on their self-titled debut album, ''The Lovers'', co-produced by Dean Honer and Parrot of All Seeing I, Kevin Bacon and Jon Quarmby (Finley Quaye, Pretenders etc...), Leigh Devlin and Robin Downe. Richard Hawley
Richard Willis Hawley (born 17 January 1967) is an English singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer. After his first band Treebound Story (formed while he was still at school) broke up, Hawley found success as a member of Britpop band Longpigs in the 1990s. After that group broke up in 2000, he later joined the band Pulp, led by his friend Jarvis Cocker, for a short time. As a solo musician, Hawley has released eight studio albums. He has been nominated for a Mercury prize twice and once for a Brit Award. He has collaborated with Lisa Marie Presley, Shakespears Sister, Arctic Monkeys, Manic Street Preachers, Elbow, Duane Eddy and Paul Weller. Pink Grease were a six-piece rock music, rock group from Sheffield, England. Drawing from prominent early influences like David Bowie, Iggy Pop, T.Rex (band), T.Rex and even Kiss (band), Kiss, the band's sound and style was often seen as glam rock while also being heavily influenced by such New wave music, new wave artists like Duran Duran and punk rock artists like The Damned (band), The Damned. Pink Grease released their debut Extended play, EP ''All Over You'', in May 2003 to some minor critical praise. Then in June 2004 they followed up with the full-length ''This Is for Real (album), This Is For Real'' with similar praise and some moderate commercial success. I Monster are an English electronic music duo, composed of the Sheffield based record producers Dean Honer and Jarrod Gosling. I Monster and its label Twins of Evil are both named after horror films starring Peter Cushing (i.e., ''I, Monster'' and ''Twins of Evil''). History Formation and ''These Are Our Children'' I Monster formed in 1997 and released their debut album ''These Are Our Children'' in 1998. However, due to Honer being involved with hitmakers All Seeing I, it was not until 2001 that they released their first single, "Daydream in Blue", a remix of The Gunter Kallmann Choir's version of The Wallace Collection's "Daydream". Kings Have Long Arms are an English "rocktronica" act, formed in Sheffield and masterminded by Salford-born Adrian Flanagan (aka "Longy"). Kings Have Long Arms have collaborated with Philip Oakey from The Human League on the track "Rock and Roll is Dead", Marion from The Lovers and Mira from Ladytron. They have achieved recognition from the UK media as well as in Europe, where they headlined the 2004 Feedback Festival in Paris. The band takes its title from the saying "Kings have long arms", which is synonymous with the term "the long arm of the law". The band's debut album, ''I Rock Eye Pop'' was released in 2006. All Seeing I
The All Seeing I were a British electronic music group from Sheffield, England, comprising Dean Honer, Jason Buckle and DJ Parrot (real name Richard Barratt). Biography The band released their first single "I Walk" in 1997, but it was not until the year after that they gained mainstream commercial success with the song " Beat Goes On", a remixed cover of the Sonny Bono song, using the vocals from Buddy Rich's version, which were sung by his daughter Cathy. Their works were something of a Sheffield collective, and the trio worked with artists from the city including Tony Christie, Jarvis Cocker, Philip Oakey, Babybird and many others. Their regular live vocalist was Bozz, who later went on to form electronica duo Hiem. All Seeing I were asked in November 1998 to produce a cover of " Beat Goes On" for Britney Spears's debut album '' ...Baby One More Time''.
