The Last Fiction
''The Last Fiction'' ( fa, آخرین داستان, Akharín Dāstān) is an animated film adaptation of the story of "Zahhak", a page from the historical identity of Iranians and one of the central tales of ''Shahnameh'' by Ferdowsi. Ashkan Rahgozar is the director of ''The Last Fiction''. The main idea of the recounting of this tale is to lend a different perspective to the legends and heroes of ancient Iranians. Production started in 2010, and since then over 100 animators have worked on the film. ''The Last Fiction'' became the first representative of Iranian animated cinema along with 344 eligible films in the competition section of the best film of the 92nd Academy Awards. Shahram Nazeri has performed the music for the final credits of the film. Ashkan Rahgozar
Ashkan Rahgozar (born 12 April 1986 in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian author, director and filmmaker of multiple Animation movies. He is founder and chief executive of Hoorakhsh Studios. Career In 1999, Ashkan started his professional career in Saba Animation Centre and in 2004 he established his own animation production studio, Hoorakhsh 7th Sky. Along with a team of young artists, they produced multiple 2D computer animation both for promotion and commercial purpose. Kaveh the Blacksmith ( fa, کاوه آهنگر – Kāve Āhangar ), is a 5000-year-old figure in Iranian mythology who leads a popular uprising against a ruthless foreign ruler, Zahāk. His story is narrated in the ''Shahnameh'', the national epic of Iran (Persia), by the 10th-century Persian poet Ferdowsi. Kāveh was, according to ancient legends, a blacksmith who launched a national uprising against the evil foreign tyrant Zahāk, after losing two of his children to serpents of Zahāk. Kāveh expelled the foreigners and re-established the rule of Iranians. Many followed Kāveh to the Alborz Mountains in Damāvand, where Fereydun, son of Ābtin and Faranak was living. Abtin
Abtin (), or Athwya is a character in Shahnama (national epic of Persia), who is the father of Fereydun. He is mentioned as the father of Fereydun in the Avesta, having been the "second man" to prepare Ahura-Mazda for the "corporeal world" (the first being Jamshid, and the third being Thrita). His name comes from the same origin as " Āptya", a title for water-born deities or heroes in the Rigveda. According to the Shatapatha Brahmana, that the first to bear this title was Agni, and that he subsequently created three Aptyas, Trita Trita ("the Third") is a minor deity of the Rigveda, mentioned 41 times. Faranak
Farānak ( fa, فَرانَک) is a female character in the Persian epic ''Shahnameh''. She is married to Abtin and the mother of Fereydun. Etymology Farânak is derived from the word ''Parvâneh'', which means "butterfly" in Persian. Like many other words and names in Persian, the letter P was transformed to F in post-Arabic period, as the letter P does not exist in Arabic. Parvânak, meaning "the little butterfly", is another name for the Persian lynx or caracal, also called ''siâh-goosh'' , which means "black-eared" in Persian. Both the name ''siâh-goosh'' ("black-eared") and ''parvânak'' ("little butterfly") refer to the pointy long black ears of the Persian lynx that look like butterflies.
