''The Killing Field'' is an Australian mystery-drama- thriller television film on the Seven Network. It was created by Sarah Smith and Michaeley O'Brien and directed by Samantha Lang, from a screenplay by Sarah Smith and Michaeley O'Brien. It was produced by Bill Hughes and Sarah Smith with Rebecca Gibney co-producing and Julie McGauran executive producing. A spin-off series ''Winter'' screened from February 2015. Plot When a young girl goes missing in the small country town of Mingara, a large scale operation is started by the police and residents of the town. However, when the search proves too big for the local authorities after five dead bodies are found, buried in a field in shallow graves, a specialised team of homicide detectives are flown in from the city. Michaeley O'Brien
Michaeley O'Brien is an Australian television writer, script editor and script producer. Born in Mudgee, she grew up in Gulgong and studied at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst as well as the Australian Film Television and Radio School. She worked as script producer on '' Water Rats'' and ''McLeod's Daughters'' and most recently wrote episodes of '' Underbelly: Razor''. ''Mystery Road,'' Episode 1, ''Gone'', was shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Literary Awards, Betty Rowland Prize for Scripwriting, 2019. Gregory Richard "Greg" Apps is an Australian film casting consultant and actor. He cast Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Eric Bana, Sam Worthington, and Hugo Weaving in the roles that brought them to wide public recognition. Gulgong
Gulgong is a 19th-century gold rush town in the Central Tablelands and the wider Central West regions of the Australian state of New South Wales. The town is situated within the Mid-Western Regional Council local government area. It is located about north west of Sydney, and about 30 km north of Mudgee along the Castlereagh Highway. At the 2016 Census, Gulgong had a population of 2,521. Today, much of the 19th-century character of the town remains, contributing to its appeal as a tourist destination. Of special interest is the Prince of Wales Opera House, a survivor with a rich history.
