Gregory Apps
Gregory Richard "Greg" Apps is an Australian film casting consultant and actor. He cast Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Eric Bana, Sam Worthington, and Hugo Weaving in the roles that brought them to wide public recognition. Biography Apps was born in 1955 and from 1967 until 1973 he attended Newington College. In the 1970s Apps began his working life as an actor. The Rocky Horror Show
''The Rocky Horror Show'' is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Richard O'Brien. A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s through to the early 1960s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr Frank-N-Furter, unveiling his new creation, Rocky, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man complete "with blond hair and a tan". The show was produced and directed by Jim Sharman. The original London production of the musical was premièred at the Royal Court Theatre (Upstairs) on 19 June 1973 (after two previews on 16 and 18 June 1973). The Casting Guild of Australia (CGA) is a professional society, founded in 2013 in Victoria, Australia. It consists over 90% of all Australian casting directors for film, television, and theatre. Formation According to Nick Hamon, casting director and Vice President of CGA that the idea of setting up a casting guild was in minds of Australian casting directors committee quite sometime. But it was not actualised until in 2013, committee member Mel Mackintosh wrote an email, emphasising on the need of the guild. ''The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith'' is a 1978 Australian drama film directed, written and produced by Fred Schepisi, and starring Tom E. Lewis (billed at the time as Tommy Lewis), Freddy Reynolds and Ray Barrett. The film also featured early appearances by Bryan Brown, Arthur Dignam, and John Jarratt. It is an adaptation of the 1972 novel ''The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith'' by Thomas Keneally. The story is about an exploited Aboriginal Australian who commits murder and goes into hiding. It is based on actual events surrounding Jimmy Governor. The film was critically acclaimed, but lost A$179,000 at the box office.
