The Journey (911 Album)
''The Journey'' is the debut studio album by English boy band 911. Released in the United Kingdom through EMI on 24 February 1997, it peaked at number 13 on the UK Albums Chart and spent 17 weeks in the top 40. However, the album was extremely popular in Asia, where it topped the Malaysian Albums Chart and went 12× Platinum. It also reached number six in Taiwan. ''The Journey'' contains 911's signature song, "Bodyshakin'". Critical reception Peter Fawthorp of AllMusic said the following about the album; "It is amazing to think of all the education that could be learned if boy bands from around the world added some cultural flavor to their music. Instead of Irish tin whistles and accordions and Scottish bagpipes, we get the common denominator of '80s American/Euro synthesized pop music, albeit lifted by '90s production quality and slight traces of accents. 911 (pronounced "nine one one") are an English pop group consisting of Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Simon "Spike" Dawbarn. They were formed in London in 1995 and released their debut single "Night to Remember" in May 1996. This was followed by their debut album ''The Journey'' in March 1997, which was certified Gold by the BPI in November 1997. 911 released two more Silver-certified albums, '' Moving On'' and '' There It Is'', in 1998 and 1999, respectively. ''There It Is'' also produced their only UK number-one single, a cover of "A Little Bit More", which topped the UK Singles Chart in January 1999. In their five years together, 911 scored ten UK top 10 singles. They sold 10 million singles and 6 million albums around the world, and were very popular in South East Asia, where their first two albums went to number one. They split in late 1999. DeBarge
DeBarge was an American musical recording group composed of several members of the DeBarge family. In addition to various solo projects completed by members of the family, DeBarge was active between 1979 and 1989. The group originally consisted of El DeBarge, El, Mark DeBarge, Mark, Randy DeBarge, Randy, and Bunny DeBarge, Bunny. James DeBarge, James joined the group a year later for their second album. Bobby DeBarge, Bobby and Chico DeBarge, Chico joined in 1987 and 1988 respectively, replacing Bunny and El. DeBarge released six studio albums, four of them with Motown subsidiary Gordy Records. The compact disc (CD) is a Digital media, digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. In August 1982, the first compact disc was manufactured. It was then released in October 1982 in Japan and branded as ''Compact Disc Digital Audio, Digital Audio Compact Disc''. The format was later adapted (as CD-ROM) for general-purpose data storage. The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. As of April 2020, iTunes offered 60 million songs, 2.2 million apps, 25,000 TV shows, and 65,000 films. When it opened, it was the only legal digital catalog of music to offer songs from all five major record labels. The iTunes Store is available on most Apple devices, including the Mac (inside the Music app), the iPhone, the iPad, the iPod touch, and the Apple TV, as well as on Windows (inside iTunes). Dead or Alive were an English pop band that released seven studio albums from 1984 to 2000. The band formed in 1980 in Liverpool and found success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the UK top 40 and three albums on the UK top 30. At the peak of their success, the lineup consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Steve Coy (drums), Mike Percy (bass) and Tim Lever (keyboards), with the core pair of Burns and Coy writing and producing for the remainder of the band's career. Two of the band's singles reached the U.S. top 20 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100: "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" (No. 11 in August 1985) and " Brand New Lover" (No. 15 in March 1987). John McLaughlin (musician)
John McLaughlin (born 4 January 1942), frequently known as Mahavishnu John, is an English guitarist, bandleader, and composer. A pioneer of jazz fusion, his music combines elements of jazz with rock, world music, Indian classical music, Western classical music, flamenco, and blues. After contributing to several key British groups of the early 1960s, McLaughlin made ''Extrapolation'', his first album as a bandleader, in 1969. He then moved to the U.S., where he played with drummer Tony Williams's group Lifetime and then with Miles Davis on his electric jazz fusion albums ''In a Silent Way'', '' Bitches Brew'', '' Jack Johnson'', and ''On the Corner''. Lee Anthony Brennan (born 27 September 1973) is an English singer, songwriter, dancer and actor. He is the lead vocalist of boy band 911. Biography Lee Brennan was born on 27 September 1973 in Carlisle, Cumberland, to Una and Francis Brennan. Lee, his two brothers Kevin & Marc & older sister Julie were brought up by Una & Step-Dad Stephen Mcalindon in Harraby & Currock, Carlisle.
