The Jarrett House
The Mount Beulah Hotel, also known as the Jarrett Springs Hotel and known for the last 70 years as The Jarrett House, is an historic hotel located near the intersection of US Highways 23 and 441 in Dillsboro, Jackson County, North Carolina. It was built about 1884, and is three-story frame hotel with a triple-tiered porch. It combines traditional and modest Victorian decorative elements. The building has had a number of additions and modifications since its construction. In 1984 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Current use The buildings and lot are being auctioned for back taxes on September 22, 2020, Jackson cty courthouse 2pm The building is the dominant building of downtown Dillsboro, North Carolina, and still serves as a hotel and restaurant. Dillsboro, North Carolina
Dillsboro is a town in Jackson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 232 at the 2010 census. Dillsboro attracts tourists traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad begins in Dillsboro and follows the Murphy Branch, constructed in the 1880s. History Dillsboro was founded when the Murphy Branch Railroad came to the area in the 1880s. In 1882, the first post office in the area opened. Called the Tunnel Post Office, it was named after the nearby Cowee Tunnel. In 1882, the postmaster, William Allen Dills, built a large home on a hill overlooking the Tuckasegee River, later the home of C.J. Harris and now The Riverwood Shops. Jackson County is a county located in the far southwest of the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 43,109. Since 1913 its county seat has been Sylva, which replaced Webster. Jackson County comprises the Cullowhee, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area. Victorian architecture is a series of architectural revival styles in the mid-to-late 19th century. ''Victorian'' refers to the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901), called the Victorian era, during which period the styles known as Victorian were used in construction.
