The Jack Artist
''The Jack Artist'' is the second studio album by American rapper The Jacka. It was released on March 15, 2005, through The Artist Records. Recording sessions took place at The Grill Studios in Emeryville. All songs were produced by Maki & RobLo of Blahk Operah Muzik with the exception of "Girls Say", which was produced by Sync Knock. The whole album was executive produced and written by The Jacka. Guest features include Dubb 20, J Stalin, RobLo, Fed-X, Cormega, Rydah J. Klyde, Keak Da Sneak, Yukmouth, AP.9, Husalah, Ampachino, Shania D., TrueQ, Akata, and Lil' Ric. The album sold around a total of 200,000 units but was failed to chart. The Jacka
Dominick Newton (August 12, 1977 – February 2, 2015), better known by his stage name The Jacka, was an American rapper from Pittsburg, California. The Jacka began his career as part of the rap group Mob Figaz. He was killed in a shooting in Oakland, California, on February 2, 2015. The murder is currently unsolved. Early life Newton was born to 14-year-old parents and became the family breadwinner as a teenager, a role that landed him in prison for a year at age 18. Newton converted to Islam at a young age and changed his name to ''Shaheed Akbar''. Career His career began with the Bay Area rap group Mob Figaz after the teenaged Newton and several friends were approached by established rap artist C-Bo in a record store and went to a recording studio that day. Thizz Entertainment is a San Francisco Bay Area-based, independent record label, started in 1999 by rapper and music producer Andre Hicks, who was professionally known as rapper Mac Dre. Best known as a poster child of the hyphy movement that swept through the Bay Area in the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2004, Hicks was murdered by an unknown assailant while traveling after a performance in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon Hicks's death and at his written direction, his mother, Wanda Salvatto, (affectionally known as "Mac Wanda") became owner and CEO. Charles Kente Williams (Birth name, né Bowens; born October 21, 1977), better known by his stage name Keak da Sneak, is an American rapper from Oakland, California, Oakland, California, known for his scratchy, gruff voice and for coining the term ''hyphy'' in 1994. Jerold Dwight Ellis III (born October 18, 1974), better known by his stage name Yukmouth, is an American rapper from East Oakland, Oakland, California. He is the founder of The Regime, Smoke-A-Lot Records and Godzilla Entertainment. He is a member of Thug Lordz with C-Bo. Career Yukmouth is a member of the rap duo Luniz, along with Numskull. Ampichino
Anthony Hunt (born 1976), better known by his stage name Ampichino or Amp, is an American rapper and producer from Akron, Ohio. His 2002 single "Do the Damn Thang" featuring Yukmouth peaked at #15 on the Hot Rap Songs and Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Ampichino is a member of the group the Regime and the collaborative effort Devilz Rejectz with The Jacka of Mob Figaz. Career Ampichino joined Yukmouth's hip-hop collective the Regime in 2001. James "Husalah" Ratliff (born May 13, 1979), is an American rapper from Pittsburg, California. He began his career with the Pittsburg group the Mob Figaz, whose first album, ''C-Bo's Mob Figaz'', was released in 1999. Like his late close friend The Jacka, Husalah is a Muslim, and frequently references Islam in his lyrics. He has released three solo studio albums (''Dope, Guns and Religion'', ''Hustlin’ Since the ‘80s'', and ''The H''), as well as numerous group projects.
